因此我发出命令，要把巴比伦的所有智慧人带到我面前，好让他们把梦的释义显明给我。

尽管有人对你们说：“求问那些喃喃自语、念念有词的招魂者和通灵者吧”，但百姓难道不应当求问自己的神吗？难道应当为活人求问死人吗？

坚持施行你的符咒和众多法术吧！那些都是你从年轻时辛劳所得的，或许你能得益处，或许还能让人恐惧呢！你因谋划过多而筋疲力尽；现在就让那些划分天象、观看星辰、在新月时说预言的都站出来吧，拯救你脱离那些将要临到你的事！看哪！他们必像麦秸一样被火烧毁，他们不能解救自己脱离威猛的火焰；这不是可以用来取暖的炭火，也不是可以坐在其面前的炉火。

这些细弱的穗子竟吞掉了那七个丰硕饱满的穗子。法老就醒过来了。看哪，原来又是一个梦！到了早晨，法老灵里烦乱，就派人召来了埃及所有的术士和智慧人。法老向他们讲述了他的梦，但没有人能为法老解梦。
