Are we trying to arouse the Lord’s jealousy? Are we stronger than he? (niv)

So Samuel told him everything, hiding nothing from him. Then Eli said,“ He is the Lord; let him do what is good in his eyes.” (niv)

So if God gave them the same gift he gave us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could stand in God’s way?” (niv)

He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.He brings princes to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner do they take root in the ground, than he blows on them and they wither, and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff. Do you have an arm like God’s, and can your voice thunder like his?Then adorn yourself with glory and splendor, and clothe yourself in honor and majesty.Unleash the fury of your wrath, look at all who are proud and bring them low,look at all who are proud and humble them, crush the wicked where they stand. from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth— (niv)

who shows no partiality to princes and does not favor the rich over the poor, for they are all the work of his hands?They die in an instant, in the middle of the night; the people are shaken and they pass away; the mighty are removed without human hand.“ His eyes are on the ways of mortals; he sees their every step.There is no deep shadow, no utter darkness, where evildoers can hide.God has no need to examine people further, that they should come before him for judgment.Without inquiry he shatters the mighty and sets up others in their place. Hear this, all you peoples; listen, all who live in this world, (niv)
