我今勸王棄惡歸善、矜憫貧乏、則享綏安、庶幾恆久、

故請王容我諫勸、王當行義以贖罪、矜恤貧乏以贖愆、庶幾恆久綏安、

Therefore, Your Majesty, be pleased to accept my advice: Renounce your sins by doing what is right, and your wickedness by being kind to the oppressed. It may be that then your prosperity will continue.”

So, Your Majesty, I hope you will accept my advice. Stop being sinful. Do what is right. Give up your evil practices. Show kindness to those who are being treated badly. Then perhaps things will continue to go well with you.”

Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you: break off your sins by practicing righteousness, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the oppressed, that there may perhaps be a lengthening of your prosperity.”

“‘ King Nebuchadnezzar, please accept my advice. Stop sinning and do what is right. Break from your wicked past and be merciful to the poor. Perhaps then you will continue to prosper.’

Therefore, O king, may my advice be pleasing to you: wipe away your sin by doing righteousness, and your wrongdoings by showing mercy to the poor, in case there may be a prolonging of your prosperity.’

Therefore, O king, let my advice be acceptable to you; break off your sins by being righteous, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor. Perhaps there may be a lengthening of your prosperity.”

Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by showing mercy to the poor; if there may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity.

Seek the LORD while he may be found; call to him while he is near.Let the wicked one abandon his way and the sinful one his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, so he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will freely forgive.

Who knows? God may turn and relent; he may turn from his burning anger so that we will not perish.

Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that, if possible, your heart’s intent may be forgiven.

But give from what is within to the poor, and then everything is clean for you.

Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.Be miserable and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.

“ So now, let Pharaoh look for a discerning and wise man and set him over the land of Egypt.Let Pharaoh do this: Let him appoint overseers over the land and take a fifth of the harvest of the land of Egypt during the seven years of abundance.Let them gather all the excess food during these good years that are coming. Under Pharaoh’s authority, store the grain in the cities, so they may preserve it as food.The food will be a reserve for the land during the seven years of famine that will take place in the land of Egypt. Then the country will not be wiped out by the famine.”The proposal pleased Pharaoh and all his servants,

“ But if the wicked person turns from all the sins he has committed, keeps all my statutes, and does what is just and right, he will certainly live; he will not die.None of the transgressions he has committed will be held against him. He will live because of the righteousness he has practiced.

The one who conceals his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them will find mercy.

Iniquity is atoned for by loyalty and faithfulness, and one turns from evil by the fear of the LORD.

“ Have you seen how Ahab has humbled himself before me? I will not bring the disaster during his lifetime, because he has humbled himself before me. I will bring the disaster on his house during his son’s lifetime.”

Instead, I preached to those in Damascus first, and to those in Jerusalem and in all the region of Judea, and to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works worthy of repentance.

Let the thief no longer steal. Instead, he is to do honest work with his own hands, so that he has something to share with anyone in need.

For you were called to be free, brothers and sisters; only don’t use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love.

He doesn’t oppress anyone but returns his collateral to the debtor. He does not commit robbery, but gives his bread to the hungry and covers the naked with clothing.

Happy is one who is considerate of the poor; the LORD will save him in a day of adversity.The LORD will keep him and preserve him; he will be blessed in the land. You will not give him over to the desire of his enemies.The LORD will sustain him on his sickbed; you will heal him on the bed where he lies.

Will the fast I choose be like this: A day for a person to deny himself, to bow his head like a reed, and to spread out sackcloth and ashes? Will you call this a fast and a day acceptable to the LORD?Isn’t this the fast I choose: To break the chains of wickedness, to untie the ropes of the yoke, to set the oppressed free, and to tear off every yoke?Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, to bring the poor and homeless into your house, to clothe the naked when you see him, and not to ignore your own flesh and blood?

But if a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed and does what is just and right, he will preserve his life.He will certainly live because he thought it over and turned from all the transgressions he had committed; he will not die.But the house of Israel says,‘ The Lord’s way isn’t fair.’ Is it my ways that are unfair, house of Israel? Instead, isn’t it your ways that are unfair?“ Therefore, house of Israel, I will judge each one of you according to his ways.” This is the declaration of the Lord GOD.“ Repent and turn from all your rebellious acts, so they will not become a sinful stumbling block to you.Throw off all the transgressions you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. Why should you die, house of Israel?For I take no pleasure in anyone’s death.” This is the declaration of the Lord GOD.“ So repent and live!

Who knows? He may turn and relent and leave a blessing behind him, so you can offer a grain offering and a drink offering to the LORD your God.

Therefore produce fruit consistent with repentance.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

before the decree takes effect and the day passes like chaff, before the burning of the LORD’s anger overtakes you, before the day of the LORD’s anger overtakes you.Seek the LORD, all you humble of the earth, who carry out what he commands. Seek righteousness, seek humility; perhaps you will be concealed on the day of the LORD’s anger.

Therefore, since we know the fear of the Lord, we try to persuade people. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your consciences.

and if you offer yourself to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted one, then your light will shine in the darkness, and your night will be like noonday.The LORD will always lead you, satisfy you in a parched land, and strengthen your bones. You will be like a watered garden and like a spring whose water never runs dry.Some of you will rebuild the ancient ruins; you will restore the foundations laid long ago; you will be called the repairer of broken walls, the restorer of streets where people live.

He was a devout man and feared God along with his whole household. He did many charitable deeds for the Jewish people and always prayed to God.About three in the afternoon he distinctly saw in a vision an angel of God who came in and said to him,“ Cornelius.”Staring at him in awe, he said,“ What is it, Lord?” The angel told him,“ Your prayers and your acts of charity have ascended as a memorial offering before God.

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision accomplishes anything; what matters is faith working through love.

Suppose someone says to God,“ I have endured my punishment; I will no longer act wickedly.Teach me what I cannot see; if I have done wrong, I won’t do it again.”

Above all, maintain constant love for one another, since love covers a multitude of sins.

Now as he spoke about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix became afraid and replied,“ Leave for now, but when I have an opportunity I’ll call for you.”

I will speak of your decrees before kings and not be ashamed.
