「王又看到有一位守望者，就是一位聖者，從天上降下，說：『你們當砍倒毀壞這樹！然而你們當把帶根的樹樁留在地裡，在田野的青草中用鐵圈和銅圈套住——讓他被天上的露水濕透，與田野的走獸一同有份，讓七個時期從他流過。』

你必從人間被趕出，你的住處必與田野的走獸在一起；你必像牛那樣吃牧草，被天上的露水濕透，讓七個時期從你流過，直到你明白：至高者在人的國中掌權，他願意把國賜給誰就賜給誰。

他經常被腳鐐和鐵鏈捆起來，然而他總是掙斷鐵鏈、打碎腳鐐。沒有人能制伏他。不管黑夜白晝，他常常在墓地和山上喊叫，又用石頭砍自己。

我聽見那身穿細麻衣、在河水之上的人說話；他向天舉起左右手，指著永遠活著的那一位起誓說：「要經過一期、二期、半期，當聖潔子民的力量被打碎時，這一切事就會成就。」

他必說話敵對至高者，折磨至高者的聖徒們，又企圖更改所定的時候和法令；聖徒們將被交在他的手中一期、二期、半期。

北方王會再次興起比先前更大的軍團；過了幾年的時間，他必率領大軍，帶著大量的裝備洶湧而來。

讓這子民的心麻木，耳朵發沉，眼睛蒙蔽，免得他們眼睛看見，耳朵聽見，心裡領悟，回轉過來，就得痊癒。」

耶穌剛上岸，那城裡一個有鬼魔附身的人就迎面而來。這個人已經很長時間不穿衣服，不住在家裡，而住在墓地裡。他一看見耶穌，就喊叫起來，俯伏在耶穌面前，大聲說：「至高神的兒子耶穌，我與你有什麼關係？求求你不要折磨我！」這是因為耶穌吩咐汙靈從那個人身上出來。原來汙靈曾多次抓住那個人，雖然他被鐵鏈和腳鐐捆鎖，被看守著，可是他掙斷鎖鏈，被鬼魔驅逐到曠野去。

但那婦人被賜予了大鷹的兩個翅膀，使她可以飛到曠野，到她自己的地方；在那裡她被供養一期，二期，又半期，遠離那蛇的面。

這話還在王的口中，就有聲音從天上降下，說：「尼布甲尼撒王啊，這是對你的宣告：你的國權從你那裡被移除了！你必從人間被趕出，你的住處必與田野的走獸在一起；你必像牛那樣吃牧草，讓七個時期從你流過，直到你明白：至高者在人的國中掌權，他願意把國賜給誰就賜給誰。」這話立刻就應驗在尼布甲尼撒身上；他從人間被趕出，像牛那樣吃牧草，身體被天上的露水濕透，直到他的頭髮長得像鷹的羽毛，指甲長得像鳥的爪子。

天地將要毀滅，你卻繼續存留；天地都要像衣服那樣漸漸破舊。
