现在斧子已经放在树根上，凡不结好果子的树就砍下来，丢在火里。

外国人，就是列国中凶暴的人，已把它砍断抛弃。它的枝条掉落山间和一切谷中，枝子折断，落在地上一切河道。地上的万民都离开它的遮荫，抛弃了它。空中的飞鸟都栖身在掉落的树干上，野地的走兽也都躺卧在它的枝条中。

王既看见一位神圣的守望者从天而降，说：‘将这树砍倒毁坏，树的残干却要留在地里，在田野的青草中用铁圈和铜圈套住。任他让天上的露水滴湿，与野地的走兽一同吃草，直到经过七个时期。’

现在斧子已经放在树根上，凡不结好果子的树就砍下来，丢在火里。”

那时传令的大声呼叫说：“各方、各国、各族的人哪，有命令传给你们：

凡不结好果子的树就砍下来，丢在火里。

叶子华美，果子甚多，可作所有动物的食物；野地的走兽卧在荫下，天空的飞鸟宿在枝上，凡有血肉的都从这树得食物。

就对园丁说：‘看哪，我这三年来到这棵无花果树前找果子，竟找不到。把它砍了吧，何必白占土地呢？’园丁回答：‘主啊，今年且留着，等我在树周围掘开土，加上肥料，以后若结果子便罢，不然再把它砍了。’”

大声呼喊，好像狮子吼叫。呼喊完了，就有七个雷发出声音。

我们想医治巴比伦，它却未获痊愈。离开它吧！让我们各人归回本国，因为它受的审判通于上天，达到穹苍。

你们要奔逃，离开巴比伦，各救自己的性命！不要陷在它的罪孽中一同灭亡，因为这是耶和华报仇的时刻，他必向巴比伦施行报应。

他以强而有力的声音喊着说：“倾覆了！大巴比伦倾覆了！她成了鬼魔的住处，各样污秽之灵的巢穴，各样污秽之鸟的窝，各样污秽可憎之兽的出没处。

但他的心高傲，灵也刚愎，以致行事狂傲，就被革去国度的王位，夺走荣耀。
