Foreigners, the most ruthless of nations, have cut it down and left it. On the mountains and in all the valleys its branches have fallen, and its boughs have been broken in all the ravines of the land, and all the peoples of the earth have gone away from its shadow and left it.On its fallen trunk dwell all the birds of the heavens, and on its branches are all the beasts of the field.

And because the king saw a watcher, a holy one, coming down from heaven and saying,‘ Chop down the tree and destroy it, but leave the stump of its roots in the earth, bound with a band of iron and bronze, in the tender grass of the field, and let him be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven periods of time pass over him,’

And the herald proclaimed aloud,“ You are commanded, O peoples, nations, and languages,

Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

Its leaves were beautiful and its fruit abundant, and in it was food for all. The beasts of the field found shade under it, and the birds of the heavens lived in its branches, and all flesh was fed from it.

And he said to the vinedresser,‘ Look, for three years now I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and I find none. Cut it down. Why should it use up the ground?’And he answered him,‘ Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and put on manure.Then if it should bear fruit next year, well and good; but if not, you can cut it down.’”

and called out with a loud voice, like a lion roaring. When he called out, the seven thunders sounded.

We would have healed Babylon, but she was not healed. Forsake her, and let us go each to his own country, for her judgment has reached up to heaven and has been lifted up even to the skies.
