于是，总长和总督纷纷聚集来见王，说：“大流士王万岁！国中的总长、钦差、总督、谋士和省长彼此商议，求王下旨，立一条禁令，三十天之内，不拘何人，若在王以外，或向神明或向人求什么，就必扔在狮子坑中。

亚伦从他们手里接过来，用模子塑造它，把它铸成一头牛犊。他们就说：“以色列啊，这是领你出埃及地的神明！”亚伦看见，就在牛犊面前筑坛。亚伦宣告说：“明日要向耶和华守节。”次日清早，百姓起来献燔祭和平安祭，就坐下吃喝，起来玩乐。
