then in my anger I will be hostile toward you, and I myself will punish you for your sins seven times over.

“‘ If you remain hostile toward me and refuse to listen to me, I will multiply your afflictions seven times over, as your sins deserve.

I myself will be hostile toward you and will afflict you for your sins seven times over.

“‘ If after all this you will not listen to me, I will punish you for your sins seven times over.

The enemy boasted,‘ I will pursue, I will overtake them. I will divide the spoils; I will gorge myself on them. I will draw my sword and my hand will destroy them.’But you blew with your breath, and the sea covered them. They sank like lead in the mighty waters.

I will put it into the hands of your tormentors, who said to you,‘ Fall prostrate that we may walk on you.’ And you made your back like the ground, like a street to be walked on.”
