有一個人來稟報說：「你們收在監裏的人，現在站在殿裏教訓百姓。」於是守殿官和差役去帶使徒來，並沒有用強暴，因為怕百姓用石頭打他們。帶到了，便叫使徒站在公會前；大祭司問他們說：

但你們要謹慎；因為人要把你們交給公會，並且你們在會堂裏要受鞭打，又為我的緣故站在諸侯與君王面前，對他們作見證。

他們就滿心大怒，彼此商議怎樣處治耶穌。

過了幾天，腓力斯和他夫人－猶太的女子土西拉－一同來到，就叫了保羅來，聽他講論信基督耶穌的道。

掃羅向約拿單發怒，對他說：「你這頑梗背逆之婦人所生的，我豈不知道你喜悅耶西的兒子，自取羞辱，以致你母親露體蒙羞嗎？耶西的兒子若在世間活着，你和你的國位必站立不住。現在你要打發人去，將他捉拿交給我；他是該死的。」約拿單對父親掃羅說：「他為甚麼該死呢？他做了甚麼呢？」掃羅向約拿單掄槍要刺他，約拿單就知道他父親決意要殺大衛。

只是看不中該隱和他的供物。該隱就大大地發怒，變了臉色。

但這一切的事以先，人要下手拿住你們，逼迫你們，把你們交給會堂，並且收在監裏，又為我的名拉你們到君王諸侯面前。

好氣的人挑啟爭端；暴怒的人多多犯罪。

哈曼見末底改不跪不拜，他就怒氣填胸。他們已將末底改的本族告訴哈曼；他以為下手害末底改一人是小事，就要滅絕亞哈隨魯王通國所有的猶大人，就是末底改的本族。

石頭重，沙土沉，愚妄人的惱怒比這兩樣更重。

並且你們要為我的緣故被送到諸侯君王面前，對他們和外邦人作見證。

寧可遇見丟崽子的母熊，不可遇見正行愚妄的愚昧人。
