王大怒，下令处死巴比伦所有的智者。

这时有人来报告说：“你们关押在牢里的人正在圣殿里教导人！”圣殿护卫长和差役再去把使徒抓回来。这次他们不敢动粗，生怕百姓会用石头打他们。使徒被带来后站在公会前，大祭司盘问他们，说：

“你们要小心，因为你们将被送上法庭，将在会堂里受鞭打，又将为了我的缘故在官长和君王面前做见证。

但法利赛人和律法教师却怒火中烧，开始商议对付耶稣的办法。

几天后，腓利斯和他的妻子犹太人土西拉一同来了，召见保罗，听他讲信基督耶稣的事。

扫罗向约拿单发怒，对他说：“你这邪恶叛逆妇人所生之子！难道我不知道你是站在耶西的儿子那边吗？你这样做不但自取其辱，也使你母亲蒙羞。只要耶西的儿子活在世上，你和你的王位就不得安稳。你派人把他抓到我这里，他非死不可。”约拿单问：“为什么要杀他？他做了什么？”扫罗气得把矛掷向约拿单，想要杀他。约拿单知道父亲决意要杀大卫。

却不悦纳该隐和他的祭物。该隐便非常恼火，面带怒容。

“这些事情出现之前，人们要拘捕你们，迫害你们，把你们押到会堂和监牢，你们将为了我的名而被君王和官长审问。

愤怒的人挑起纷争，暴躁的人多有过犯。

哈曼见末底改不肯向他跪拜，就怒气填胸。他得知末底改是犹太人后，便不屑于只害末底改一人，而是要铲除亚哈随鲁王国内所有的犹太人，即末底改的同胞。

石头沉，沙土重，不如愚人惹的麻烦重。

你们要因我的缘故被带到官长和君王面前，在他们和外族人面前为我做见证。

宁愿遇见丢失幼崽的母熊，也不愿碰上做蠢事的愚人。
