王曾降旨云、凡聞角、笛、琵琶、琴瑟、簫、笙、及諸他類樂器之音、當俯伏崇拜金像、

Your Majesty has issued a decree that everyone who hears the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music must fall down and worship the image of gold,

Your Majesty has commanded everyone to fall down and worship the gold statue. You told them to do it when they heard the horns, flutes, zithers, lyres, harps, pipes and other musical instruments.

Then the herald loudly proclaimed:“ To you the command is given, you peoples, nations, and populations of all languages,that at the moment you hear the sound of the horn, flute, lyre, trigon, psaltery, bagpipe, and all kinds of musical instruments, you are to fall down and worship the golden statue that Nebuchadnezzar the king has set up.But whoever does not fall down and worship shall immediately be thrown into the middle of a furnace of blazing fire.”Therefore as soon as all the peoples heard the sound of the horn, flute, lyre, trigon, psaltery, bagpipe, and all kinds of musical instruments, all the peoples, nations, and populations of all languages fell down and worshiped the golden statue that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.

Then they approached and spoke before the king about the king’s injunction:“ Did you not sign an injunction that any person who offers a prayer to any god or person besides you, O king, for thirty days, is to be thrown into the lions’ den?” The king replied,“ The statement is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which may not be revoked.”

Then the king’s scribes were summoned on the thirteenth day of the first month, and it was written just as Haman commanded to the king’s satraps, to the governors who were over each province and to the officials of each people, each province according to its script, each people according to its language, being written in the name of King Ahasuerus and sealed with the king’s signet ring.Letters were sent by couriers to all the king’s provinces to annihilate, kill, and destroy all the Jews, both young and old, women and children, in one day, the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to seize their possessions as plunder.A copy of the edict to be issued as law in every province was published to all the peoples so that they would be ready for this day.

Then David spoke to the chiefs of the Levites to appoint their relatives as the singers, with musical instruments, harps, lyres, and cymbals, playing to raise sounds of joy.

Then Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying,“ Every son who is born, you are to throw into the Nile, but every daughter, you are to keep alive.”

Now if you are ready, at the moment you hear the sound of the horn, flute, lyre, trigon, psaltery and bagpipe, and all kinds of musical instruments, to fall down and worship the statue that I have made, very well. But if you do not worship, you will immediately be thrown into the midst of a furnace of blazing fire; and what god is there who can rescue you from my hands?”

Can a throne of destruction be allied with You, One which devises mischief by decree?

Miriam the prophetess, Aaron’s sister, took the tambourine in her hand, and all the women went out after her with tambourines and with dancing.And Miriam answered them,“ Sing to the Lord, for He is highly exalted; The horse and his rider He has hurled into the sea.”

And he causes all, the small and the great, the rich and the poor, and the free and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads,and he decrees that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name.

Sing for joy to God our strength; Shout joyfully to the God of Jacob.Raise a song, strike the tambourine, The sweet sounding lyre with the harp.Blow the trumpet at the new moon, At the full moon, on our feast day.

Moreover, David and the commanders of the army set apart for the service some of the sons of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun, who were to prophesy with lyres, harps, and cymbals; and the number of those who performed this service was:Of the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asharelah; the sons of Asaph were under the direction of Asaph, who prophesied under the direction of the king.Of Jeduthun, the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six in all, under the direction of their father Jeduthun with the harp, who prophesied in giving thanks and praising the Lord.Of Heman, the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti and Romamti ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth.All these were the sons of Heman the king’s seer to exalt him according to the words of God, for God gave fourteen sons and three daughters to Heman.All of these were under the direction of their father to sing in the house of the Lord, with cymbals, harps, and lyres, for the service of the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman were under the direction of the king.

Praise Him with trumpet sound; Praise Him with harp and lyre.Praise Him with tambourine and dancing; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flute.Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with resounding cymbals.Everything that has breath shall praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!

Woe to those who enact unjust statutes And to those who constantly record harmful decisions,

and he said,“ When you are helping the Hebrew women to give birth and see them upon the birthstool, if it is a son, then you shall put him to death; but if it is a daughter, then she shall live.”

Asaph the chief, and second to him Zechariah, then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed edom, and Jeiel, with musical instruments, harps, and lyres; also Asaph played loud sounding cymbals,and the priests Benaiah and Jahaziel blew trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.

So all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the Lord with shouting, and with the sound of the horn, with trumpets, with loud sounding cymbals, with harps, and lyres.

Who improvise to the sound of the harp, And like David have composed songs for themselves,

It is good to give thanks to the Lord And to sing praises to Your name, Most High;To declare Your goodness in the morning And Your faithfulness by night,With the ten stringed lute and with the harp, With resounding music on the lyre.

He then stationed the Levites in the house of the Lord with cymbals, harps, and lyres, according to the command of David and of Gad, the king’s seer, and of Nathan the prophet; for the command was from the Lord through His prophets.

Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that if anyone knew where He was, he was to report it, so that they might arrest Him.

Furthermore, I have seen under the sun that in the place of justice there is wickedness and in the place of righteousness there is wickedness.

But he said,“ It is not the sound of the cry of victory, Nor is it the sound of the cry of defeat; But I hear the sound of singing.”And it came about, as soon as Moses approached the camp, that he saw the calf and the people dancing; and Moses’ anger burned, and he threw the tablets from his hands and shattered them to pieces at the foot of the mountain.

They shall praise His name with dancing; They shall sing praises to Him with tambourine and lyre.For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will glorify the lowly with salvation.
