可是你們看見了也聽見了，這個保羅不僅在以弗所也幾乎在全亞細亞省，說服、引誘了一大群人，說『人手所造的不是神』。

列國的偶像是銀的、金的，是人手所造的：

是偶像嗎？偶像不過是匠人所鑄造的——工匠為它鍍上金子，為它加工銀鏈。那窮得供奉不起的人，就挑選不會朽壞的木頭，為自己尋找巧匠，立起不會搖動的偶像。難道你們不知道嗎？難道你們沒有聽過嗎？難道從起初沒有向你們宣告這事嗎？難道從奠定大地根基以來你們沒有領悟嗎？神坐在大地的圓穹之上，地上的居民好像蚱蜢。他展開諸天如幔子，鋪張穹蒼如居住的帳篷。他使掌權者歸於無有，使地上的審判官形同虛設。他們剛被栽下，剛被種下，根莖剛在地裡扎下，神向他們一吹氣，他們就枯乾了，狂風把他們像麥稭一樣吹走。至聖者說：「你們把我比作誰，我就與誰等同了嗎？」你們向高天舉目觀看吧！是誰創造了這些萬象？是按著數目把萬象領出來的那一位！他一一點其名；因他的大能大力，它們一個也不缺失。雅各啊，你為什麼說，以色列啊，你為什麼聲稱：「我的道路從耶和華面前隱藏了，我應得的公正被我的神忽略了」？難道你不知道嗎？難道你沒有聽過嗎？永恆的神耶和華——創造地極的主，他不疲倦，也不困乏；他的聰慧無法測度。疲乏的，他賜力量；無力的，他加能力。少年人也會疲倦困乏，青年人也會全然絆倒，但那些等候耶和華的，必重新得力；他們必如鷹展翅上騰，他們奔跑不會困乏，行走也不會疲倦。

列國的偶像是銀的、金的，是人手所造的：它們有嘴卻不能說，有眼卻不能看；有耳卻不能聽，有鼻卻不能聞；有手卻不能摸，有腳卻不能走，也不能用喉嚨發出聲音。那些造它們的、所有依靠它們的，都會像它們那樣。

到那日，人必把那些為敬拜而造的金偶像和銀偶像拋給田鼠和蝙蝠；

所以我們既然是神的後裔，就不應該認為神性是彷彿用人的手藝和心思所雕刻的金、銀、石像。

反而對天上的主高舉自己，讓人把他殿中的器皿帶到你面前來，你和你的大臣們、妻子們、妃嬪們都用這些來喝酒；你稱讚那些不能看、不能聽、不能知——用金、銀、銅、鐵、木、石所做的神明，卻不尊崇那位掌握你的氣息、掌握你一切道路的神。

「王啊，你正在觀看，看哪，有一座巨大的像！這像極大，非常光耀，立在你前面，它的樣貌令人恐懼。這像的頭是純金的，它的胸膛和膀臂是銀的，它的腹部和大腿是銅的，

王就提拔了但以理，賜給他許多貴重的禮物，使他統轄巴比倫全省，並且立他為總長之首管理巴比倫的所有智慧人。

你要羞辱你那些包銀的雕像和鍍金的鑄像，要拋棄它們如同拋棄汙穢之物，要對它們說：「給我出去！」

可是，其餘沒有被這些災害所殺的人，還是不悔改離開自己手所做的，不停止拜鬼魔和那些金、銀、銅、石、木的偶像——它們既不能看、也不能聽、更不能走。

亞哈隨魯年間，亞哈隨魯統治著從印度到庫實的一百二十七個省；
