那些不惜从钱袋里倒出金子，用天平称出银子的人，雇用金匠造出神像，然后俯伏下拜。

可是你们看见了也听见了，这个保罗不仅在以弗所也几乎在全亚细亚省，说服、引诱了一大群人，说‘人手所造的不是神’。

列国的偶像是银的、金的，是人手所做的：

是偶像吗？偶像不过是匠人所铸造的——工匠为它镀上金层，为它加工银链。那穷得供奉不起的人，就挑选不会朽坏的木头，为自己寻找巧匠，立起不会摇动的偶像。难道你们不知道吗？难道你们没有听过吗？难道从起初没有向你们宣告这事吗？难道从奠定大地根基以来你们没有领悟吗？神坐在大地的圆穹之上，地上的居民好像蚱蜢。他展开诸天如幔子，铺张穹苍如居住的帐篷。他使掌权者归于无有，使地上的审判官形同虚设。他们刚被栽下，刚被种下，根茎刚在地里扎下，神向他们一吹气，他们就枯干了，狂风把他们像麦秸一样吹走。至圣者说：“你们把我比作谁，我就与谁等同了吗？”你们向高天举目观看吧！是谁创造了这些万象？是按着数目把万象领出来的那一位！他一一点其名；因他的大能大力，它们一个也不缺失。雅各啊，你为什么说，以色列啊，你为什么声称：“我的道路从耶和华面前隐藏了，我应得的公正被我的神忽略了”？难道你不知道吗？难道你没有听过吗？永恒的神耶和华——创造地极的主，他不疲倦，也不困乏；他的聪慧无法测度。疲乏的，他赐力量；无力的，他加能力。少年人也会疲倦困乏，青年人也会全然绊倒，但那些等候耶和华的，必重新得力；他们必如鹰展翅上腾，他们奔跑不会困乏，行走也不会疲倦。

列国的偶像是银的、金的，是人手所做的：它们有嘴却不能说，有眼却不能看；有耳却不能听，有鼻却不能闻；有手却不能摸，有脚却不能走，也不能用喉咙发出声音。那些造它们的、所有依靠它们的，都会像它们那样。

到那日，人必把那些为敬拜而造的金偶像和银偶像抛给田鼠和蝙蝠；

所以我们既然是神的后裔，就不应该认为神性是仿佛用人的手艺和心思所雕刻的金、银、石像。

反而对天上的主高举自己，让人把他殿中的器皿带到你面前来，你和你的大臣们、妻子们、妃嫔们都用这些来喝酒；你称赞那些不能看、不能听、不能知——用金、银、铜、铁、木、石所做的神明，却不尊崇那位掌握你的气息、掌握你一切道路的神。

“王啊，你正在观看，看哪，有一座巨大的像！这像极大，非常光耀，立在你前面，它的样貌令人恐惧。这像的头是纯金的，它的胸膛和膀臂是银的，它的腹部和大腿是铜的，

王就提拔了但以理，赐给他许多贵重的礼物，使他统辖巴比伦全省，并且立他为总长之首管理巴比伦的所有智慧人。

你要羞辱你那些包银的雕像和镀金的铸像，要抛弃它们如同抛弃污秽之物，要对它们说：“给我出去！”

可是，其余没有被这些灾害所杀的人，还是不悔改离开自己手所做的，不停止拜鬼魔和那些金、银、铜、石、木的偶像——它们既不能看、也不能听、更不能走。

亚哈随鲁年间，亚哈随鲁统治着从印度到库实的一百二十七个省；
