他們毀壞了巴力的神柱，又拆毀了巴力廟，作為廁所，直到今日。

那時，約書亞要人民起誓，說：“起來重建這耶利哥城的，那人在耶和華面前是可咒可詛的；他立地基的時候必喪長子；他安城門的時候必失幼子。”

並且把從城裡掠奪的一切戰利品，都要收集在那城的廣場上，用火把城和在城裡掠奪的一切戰利品焚燒，獻給耶和華你的神；那城就要永遠成為廢墟，不可再建造。

撒母耳說：“你的刀怎樣使婦人喪子，你的母親在婦人中也要怎樣喪子。”於是撒母耳在吉甲，在耶和華面前把亞甲斬成碎塊。

忘記神的人哪！你們要思想這事，免得我把你們撕碎，沒有人能搭救。

因此，王大發烈怒，下令殺絕巴比倫所有的智慧人。
