Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise[ men] of Babylon.

Then the king placed Daniel in a high position and lavished many gifts on him. He made him ruler over the entire province of Babylon and placed him in charge of all its wise men.

But if ye shew the dream, and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour: therefore shew me the dream, and the interpretation thereof.

There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom[ is] the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king,[ I say], thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans,[ and] soothsayers;

O Belteshazzar, master of the magicians, because I know that the spirit of the holy gods[ is] in thee, and no secret troubleth thee, tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and the interpretation thereof.

And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and dissolve doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and[ have] a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.

And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this,[ there is] none so discreet and wise as thou[ art]:Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou.And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt.And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph’s hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him[ ruler] over all the land of Egypt.

Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and[ put] a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.

I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the LORD,[ and] the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke,[ and] burst the bonds.

And[ there was] a man in Maon, whose possessions[ were] in Carmel; and the man[ was] very great, and he had three thousand sheep, and a thousand goats: and he was shearing his sheep in Carmel.

His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.

Now Barzillai was a very aged man,[ even] fourscore years old: and he had provided the king of sustenance while he lay at Mahanaim; for he[ was] a very great man.

Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon.

Therefore now flee thou to thy place: I thought to promote thee unto great honour; but, lo, the LORD hath kept thee back from honour.

And they came to Balaam, and said to him, Thus saith Balak the son of Zippor, Let nothing, I pray thee, hinder thee from coming unto me:For I will promote thee unto very great honour, and I will do whatsoever thou sayest unto me: come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people.

Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the LORD had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour,[ but he was] a leper.

And the men of Israel said, Have ye seen this man that is come up? surely to defy Israel is he come up: and it shall be,[ that] the man who killeth him, the king will enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father’s house free in Israel.

There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height[ was] threescore cubits,[ and] the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.

It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel[ was] first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage.
