Then the king placed Daniel in a high position and lavished many gifts on him. He made him ruler over the entire province of Babylon and placed him in charge of all its wise men.

在你国中有一个人，他里面有圣神的灵；你先祖在世的日子，发现这人有灼见，有聪明，有智慧，好像神的智慧一样。你先祖尼布甲尼撒王，就是王的先祖，曾立他为术士、用法术的，以及迦勒底人和占星家的领袖。

‘术士的领袖伯提沙撒啊！因为我知道你里面有圣神的灵，没有什么隐秘的事能难倒你；因此，你要把我梦中所见的异象和梦的意思告诉我。

我听说你能解释异梦，也能解答难题。现在你若能读这文字，把它的意思向我说明，就必身穿紫袍，颈戴金链，在国中掌权，位列第三。”

法老对约瑟说：“神既然把这事指示了你，就再没有人像你这样有见识有智慧了。你可以掌管我的家，我的人民都要听从你的话；只有在王位上我比你大。”法老又对约瑟说：“你看，我任命你治理埃及全地。”于是，法老脱下他手上打印的戒指，戴在约瑟的手上；给他穿上细麻的衣服，把金颈链挂在他的颈项上；又叫约瑟坐在他的副车里，有人在他前面喊着：“跪下。”这样，法老任命了约瑟治理埃及全地。

于是伯沙撒下令，人就把紫袍给但以理穿上，把金链戴在他的颈上，又宣告他在国中掌权，位列第三。

我要亲自去见那些权贵领袖，跟他们谈谈；因为他们晓得耶和华的道路，也明白他们神的法则。”谁知他们竟一起把轭折断，挣脱绳索。

在玛云有一个人，他的产业在迦密。他是一个很富有的人，有绵羊三千只，山羊一千只，那时他正在迦密剪羊毛。

他的家产有七千只羊、三千匹骆驼、五百对牛、五百头母驴，并且有许多仆婢。这人在全东方的人中至为尊贵。

巴西莱年纪非常老迈，已经八十岁。王住在玛哈念的时候，是他供养王的，因为他是一个很富有的人。

于是王在巴比伦省提升了沙得拉、米煞和亚伯尼歌。

现在你逃回你的地方去吧；我说过我要大大地使你得尊荣，但是耶和华阻止你使你不得尊荣。”

他们来到巴兰那里，对他说：“西拨的儿子巴勒这样说：‘求你不要推辞不到我这里来，因为我必使你大得尊荣；你向我说什么，我都照办；只求你替我咒诅这民。’”

亚兰王的军长乃缦在他的主人面前是一个大人物，很得王的赏识，因为耶和华曾藉他把胜利赐给亚兰。这个人是个勇猛的战士，可惜他是个痲风病人。

以色列人彼此说：“这个上来的人你们看见了吗？他上来是要向以色列人骂阵的。如果有人能击杀他，王必赏赐他大财富，把自己的女儿给他作妻子，并且使他的父家在以色列中免纳税，免服役。”

但有几个犹大人，就是王所派管理巴比伦省政务的沙得拉、米煞和亚伯尼歌，王啊！这些人不理会你的命令，不事奉你的神，也不向你所立的金像下拜。”

尼布甲尼撒王造了一座金像，高二十七公尺，宽三公尺，竖立在巴比伦省的杜拉平原上。

大利乌按自己的心意，立了一百二十个总督，治理全国；（本节在《马索拉文本》为6:2）他又在这些总督之上，设立三位监察司（但以理是其中之一），监管总督的工作，免得王受亏损。
