Then the king placed Daniel in a high position and lavished many gifts on him. He made him ruler over the entire province of Babylon and placed him in charge of all its wise men.

你们若能将梦和梦的意思告诉我，我必给你们礼物、赏赐和极大的尊荣。所以你们要将梦和梦的意思告诉我。”

你国中有一个人，他有圣洁神明的灵。先王在世时，曾发现他有神明一样的灼见、悟性和智慧。先王尼布甲尼撒立他为术士、巫师、占星家和占卜者的首领。

‘术士的首领伯提沙撒啊，我知道你有圣洁神明的灵，任何奥秘都难不倒你。请你为我解释我梦中所见的异象。

我听说你能释梦、解惑。你若能读出墙上的字，把意思告诉我，你必身穿紫袍、颈戴金链，在我的国中位居第三。”

法老对约瑟说：“上帝既然把梦的意思指示给你，可见没人有你这样的见识和智慧。我要派你管理我家，我的人民都要遵从你的命令，只有我权力比你大。”法老又说：“我现在派你治理埃及全国。”于是，法老摘下手上用来盖印的戒指，戴在约瑟的手上，给他穿上细麻袍，把金链戴在他颈上，让他坐在自己的第二辆御车上，并有人在御车前高呼：“跪下！”这样，法老派约瑟治理整个埃及。

于是，伯沙撒下令给但以理穿上紫袍，戴上金项链，又宣告他在国中位居第三。

我要找他们的首领说话，因为这些首领明白耶和华的道，知道他们上帝的法令。”然而，他们却一致违背耶和华的律法，不服从祂的法令。

玛云有个富翁拥有三千只绵羊和一千只山羊，他的产业在迦密。当时他正在迦密剪羊毛。

七千只羊、三千只骆驼、五百对牛、五百头母驴及许多仆婢。他在东方人中最富有。

那时，巴西莱已经是八十高龄了。王留在玛哈念的时候，他曾供应王食物，因为他非常富有。

于是，王让沙得拉、米煞、亚伯尼歌在巴比伦省身居高位。

现在快回家去吧！我说过要给你重赏，但耶和华不让你得到。”

他们到了巴兰那里，对他说：“西拨的儿子巴勒请你务必去一趟，他必有重赏。你要什么都可以，只求你去为他咒诅那民族。”

乃缦是亚兰王的元帅，甚得亚兰王器重，因为耶和华借他使亚兰人打了许多胜仗。他是英勇的战士，只是患了麻风病。

以色列人彼此议论说：“看那个人！他是来向以色列军骂阵的。谁要能杀死他，王必有重赏，还会把女儿嫁给他为妻，并免去他父亲家在以色列应缴的赋税。”

然而，王啊，有几个犹大人，就是王委派负责巴比伦省事务的沙得拉、米煞、亚伯尼歌，却不理会你的命令，不事奉你的神明，也不祭拜你立的金像。”

尼布甲尼撒王造了一尊高二十七米、宽二点七米的金像，立在巴比伦省的杜拉平原。

大流士决定设立一百二十个总督治理全国。总督之上，设三个总长，以维护王的统治，但以理是其中之一。
