I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors: You have given me wisdom and power, you have made known to me what we asked of you, you have made known to us the dream of the king.”

To you, O God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise, for you have given me wisdom and might, and have now made known to me what we asked of you, for you have made known to us the king’s matter.”

I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors, for you have given me wisdom and strength. You have told me what we asked of you and revealed to us what the king demanded.”

I offer thanks and praise to you, God of my ancestors, because you have given me wisdom and power. And now you have let me know what we asked of you, for you have let us know the king’s mystery.

God also said to Moses,“ You must say this to the Israelites,‘ The LORD– the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob– has sent me to you. This is my name forever, and this is my memorial from generation to generation.’

He asked them to pray for mercy from the God of heaven concerning this mystery so that he and his friends would not be destroyed along with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

“ As for you, O king, while you were in your bed your thoughts turned to future things. The revealer of mysteries has made known to you what will take place.As for me, this mystery was revealed to me not because I possess more wisdom than any other living person, but so that the king may understand the interpretation and comprehend the thoughts of your mind.

Certainly the sovereign LORD does nothing without first revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.

The LORD’s loyal followers receive his guidance, and he reveals his covenantal demands to them.

Now as for these four young men, God endowed them with knowledge and skill in all sorts of literature and wisdom– and Daniel had insight into all kinds of visions and dreams.

saying,“ Let the name of God be praised forever and ever, for wisdom and power belong to him.He changes times and seasons, deposing some kings and establishing others. He gives wisdom to the wise; he imparts knowledge to those with understanding;

Present to God a thank-offering! Repay your vows to the sovereign One!

At that time you will say:“ I praise you, O LORD, for even though you were angry with me, your anger subsided, and you consoled me.

Wisdom gives a wise person more protection than ten rulers in a city.

A wise warrior is strong, and a man of knowledge makes his strength stronger;

When it was time for the evening offering, Elijah the prophet approached the altar and prayed:“ O LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, prove today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command.

Now, our God, we give thanks to you and praise your majestic name!

So they took away the stone. Jesus looked upward and said,“ Father, I thank you that you have listened to me.

Then one of the elders said to me,“ Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of David, has conquered; thus he can open the scroll and its seven seals.”

He prayed:“ O LORD God of our ancestors, you are the God who lives in heaven and rules over all the kingdoms of the nations. You possess strength and power; no one can stand against you.

Then the LORD said,“ Should I hide from Abraham what I am about to do?

The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must happen very soon. He made it clear by sending his angel to his servant John,

The wise person can scale the city of the mighty and bring down the stronghold in which they trust.

David praised the LORD before the entire assembly:“ O LORD God of our father Israel, you deserve praise forevermore!

Counsel and sound wisdom belong to me; I possess understanding and might.

Then Jacob prayed,“ O God of my father Abraham, God of my father Isaac, O LORD, you said to me,‘ Return to your land and to your relatives and I will make you prosper.’I am not worthy of all the faithful love you have shown your servant. With only my walking stick I crossed the Jordan, but now I have become two camps.Rescue me, I pray, from the hand of my brother Esau, for I am afraid he will come and attack me, as well as the mothers with their children.

Praise the LORD, O my soul! With all that is within me, praise his holy name!Praise the LORD, O my soul! Do not forget all his kind deeds!He is the one who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases,who delivers your life from the Pit, who crowns you with his loyal love and compassion,

Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner can destroy much that is good.

I no longer call you slaves, because the slave does not understand what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, because I have revealed to you everything I heard from my Father.

May the LORD our God be with us, as he was with our ancestors. May he not abandon us or leave us.

So I concluded that wisdom is better than might, but a poor man’s wisdom is despised; no one ever listens to his advice.
