So the king summoned the magicians, enchanters, sorcerers and astrologers to tell him what he had dreamed. When they came in and stood before the king,

So the king sent for those who claimed to get knowledge by using magic. He also sent for those who practiced evil magic and those who studied the heavens. He wanted them to tell him what he had dreamed. They came in and stood in front of the king.

Then the king commanded that the magicians, the enchanters, the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans be summoned to tell the king his dreams. So they came in and stood before the king.

王考问他们一切智慧和聪明的事，发现他们比全国所有的术士和巫师胜过十倍。

因此我降旨召巴比伦的智慧人全都到我面前，要他们将梦的解释告诉我。

到了早晨，法老心里不安，就派人把埃及所有的术士和智慧人都召来。法老把所做的梦告诉他们，但是没有人能为法老解梦。

法老也召了智慧人和行邪术的人来，这些埃及术士也用邪术照样做。

大声吩咐将巫师、迦勒底人和观兆的领进来。王对巴比伦的智慧人说：“谁能读这文字，并且向我讲解它的意思，他必身穿紫袍，项带金链，在我国中位列第三。”

迦勒底人回答王说：“世上没有人能解释王的事情；从来没有君王、大臣、掌权者向术士、巫师，或迦勒底人问过这样的事。

尽管使用从幼年就施行的魔符和众多的邪术吧！或许有些帮助，或许可以致胜。你筹划太多，以致疲倦。让那些观天象，看星宿，在初一说预言的都起来，救你脱离所要临到你的事！

你中间不可有人使儿女经火，也不可有占卜的、观星象的、行法术的、行邪术的、施符咒的、招魂的、行巫术的和求问死人的。凡做这些事的都是耶和华所憎恶的；因这可憎恶的事，耶和华—你的神把他们从你面前赶出去。

有人对你们说：“当求问招魂的与行巫术的，他们唧唧喳喳，念念有词。”然而，百姓不当求问自己的神吗？岂可为活人求问死人呢？

埃及人的心神在里面耗尽，我要破坏他们的计谋。他们必求问偶像和念咒的，求问招魂的与行巫术的人。
