但以理在王面前回答王說：『王所問的那機密事、博士和用法術的跟學術士和占卜的都不能告訴王；只有一位在天上的上帝、他能將機密的事啓示出來；他已將日後要發生的事告訴了尼布甲尼撒王了。你的夢和你在床上在腦中所見的異象是這樣：

你升上了高處，擄了俘虜，在人間接受了供品；啊，連悖逆人也供獻，叫永恆主上帝可以和他們同住！

上帝的殿堂同偶像怎能符合呢？我們呢、就是永活上帝的殿堂。正如上帝所說的：『我要在他們裏面居住；我要在他們中間往來；我要做他們的上帝；他們必做我的子民。』

『然而上帝果真和人同住在地上麼？看哪，天和天上之天尚且容不下你，何況我所建的這殿呢？

『這是我永永遠遠的安居所；我要在這裏坐着為王，因為我中意它。

永恆主這麼說：『天是我的座位，地是我的腳凳；你們要在哪裏為我建殿呢？哪裏是我安居所的地方呢？永恆主發神諭說：這一切都是我手造的，這一切都是我的。但以下這種人我倒要垂看：我要垂看卑遜謙虛、心靈傷痛，一聽見我的話、就戰戰兢兢的人。

你們所住的地、就是我所居於其中的、你們不可使它蒙不潔，因為我永恆主居於以色列人中間。』

『然而上帝果真住在地上麼？看哪，天和天上之天尚且容不下你，何況我所建的這殿呢？

我必報復他們流人血的罪；我必不讓它免受處罰；因為永恆主永居於錫安。』
