但以理在王面前回答說：「王所問的那奧祕事，哲士、用法術的、術士、觀兆的都不能告訴王，只有一位在天上的神能顯明奧祕的事。他已將日後必有的事指示尼布甲尼撒王。你的夢和你在牀上腦中的異象是這樣：

你已經升上高天，擄掠仇敵；你在人間，就是在悖逆的人間，受了供獻，叫耶和華神可以與他們同住。

神的殿和偶像有甚麼相同呢？因為我們是永生神的殿，就如神曾說：我要在他們中間居住，在他們中間來往；我要作他們的神；他們要作我的子民。

「神果真與世人同住在地上嗎？看哪，天和天上的天尚且不足你居住的，何況我所建的這殿呢？

說：這是我永遠安息之所；我要住在這裏，因為是我所願意的。

耶和華如此說：天是我的座位；地是我的腳凳。你們要為我造何等的殿宇？哪裏是我安息的地方呢？耶和華說：這一切都是我手所造的，所以就都有了。但我所看顧的，就是虛心痛悔、因我話而戰兢的人。

你們不可玷污所住之地，就是我住在其中之地，因為我－耶和華住在以色列人中間。」

「神果真住在地上嗎？看哪，天和天上的天尚且不足你居住的，何況我所建的這殿呢？

我未曾報復流血的罪，現在我要報復，因為耶和華住在錫安。
