“ One from her family line will arise to take her place. He will attack the forces of the king of the North and enter his fortress; he will fight against them and be victorious.

“ Someone from her family line will take her place. He will attack the army of the next king of Syria. Then he will enter his fort. He will fight against that army and win.

“ There will arise in his place one from her family line who will come against their army and will enter the stronghold of the king of the north and will move against them successfully.

“ For, behold, the day comes, it burns as a furnace; and all the proud, and all who work wickedness, will be stubble; and the day that comes will burn them up,” says Yahweh of Armies,“ that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

Let his days be few. Let another take his office.

A shoot will come out of the stock of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots will bear fruit.

But you, God, will bring them down into the pit of destruction. Bloodthirsty and deceitful men shall not live out half their days, but I will trust in you.

For he has despised the oath by breaking the covenant; and behold, he had given his hand, and yet has done all these things. He won’t escape.

Therefore Yahweh will cut off from Israel head and tail, palm branch and reed, in one day.

For he sees that wise men die; likewise the fool and the senseless perish, and leave their wealth to others.Their inward thought is that their houses will endure forever, and their dwelling places to all generations. They name their lands after themselves.But man, despite his riches, doesn’t endure. He is like the animals that perish.This is the destiny of those who are foolish, and of those who approve their sayings. Selah.

“ For there is hope for a tree if it is cut down, that it will sprout again, that the tender branch of it will not cease.

You have planted them. Yes, they have taken root. They grow. Yes, they produce fruit. You are near in their mouth, and far from their heart.

“ But God said to him,‘ You foolish one, tonight your soul is required of you. The things which you have prepared— whose will they be?’

But in his place he will honor the god of fortresses. He will honor a god whom his fathers didn’t know with gold, silver, and with precious stones and pleasant things.He will deal with the strongest fortresses by the help of a foreign god. He will increase with glory whoever acknowledges him. He will cause them to rule over many, and will divide the land for a price.
