He will extend his power over many countries; Egypt will not escape.

His power will reach out into many countries. Even Egypt will not escape.

The pride of Assyria will be brought down, and the scepter of Egypt will come to an end.

I will restore the fortunes of Egypt and bring them back to the land of Pathros, the land of their origin. There they will be a lowly kingdom.

Their dead bodies will lie in the main street of the great city, which figuratively is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified.
