Instead of them, he will honor a god of fortresses; a god unknown to his ancestors he will honor with gold and silver, with precious stones and costly gifts.

就是金、銀、寶石、珍珠；細麻布、紫色布、絲綢、朱紅色布；各樣香木，各樣象牙製品，各樣極貴重的木器、銅器、鐵器、大理石製品；

牠在頭一隻獸面前，行使頭一隻獸的一切權柄。牠使全地和住在地上的人，都拜那受過致命傷而醫好了的頭一隻獸。牠又行大奇事，甚至在人面前叫火從天上降在地上。牠得了能力，在頭一隻獸面前能行奇事，迷惑了住在地上的人，吩咐住在地上的人，要為那受過刀傷而還活著的獸做個像。又有能力賜給牠，可以把氣息給獸像，使獸像能夠說話，並且能夠殺害那些不拜獸像的人。那從地裡上來的獸，又要所有的人，無論大小貧富，自由的和作奴隸的，都在右手或額上，給自己作個記號。這記號就是獸的名字或獸名的數字，除了那有記號的，誰也不能買，誰也不能賣。

製造偶像的人，盡都是虛空的，他們所喜愛的，都沒有益處。他們的見證人，一無所見，一無所知，以致他們蒙羞。

拿著七碗的七位天使中，有一位來跟我講話，說：“你來，我要把那坐在眾水之上的大淫婦所要受的審判指示你。地上的眾王都跟她行過淫，住在地上的人也都喝她淫亂的酒醉了。”我在靈裡被天使帶到曠野去，看見一個婦人，騎著朱紅色的獸，這獸布滿了褻瀆的名號，有七頭十角。那婦人穿著紫色和朱紅色的衣服，佩戴著金子、寶石和珍珠的裝飾，手裡拿著金杯，盛滿了可憎的物，和她淫亂的污穢。她額上寫著一個名號：“奧祕，大巴比倫，地上的淫婦和可憎的物之母。”

聖靈明明地說，日後必有人離棄信仰，跟從虛謊的邪靈和鬼魔的教訓。
