當時但以理奏王曰、王所欲賜者、仍可歸王、王之賞賚、可畀他人、我仍為王讀此文字、解其意以示王、

爾但以理、當謹秘此言、錄之於書、以書封緘、以待末期、眾將稽察、增益見識、○

今我來、欲以爾民末日所將遇之事、指示於爾、或作今我來欲使爾知爾民末日必遇之事蓋此異象日久方應、

天主定此事、將速成之、故使法老夢而復夢、

曰、但以理往哉、斯言隱秘封緘、以俟末期、

主更變時序世代、廢王立王、以智慧賜智慧者、以知識賜明哲人、

昔尼布甲尼撒自耶路撒冷遷主殿之器皿、置於己神之廟、今巴西王古列、命司庫者米提利達攜斯器皿出、按其數付於猶大牧伯設巴薩、

其名但以理、尼布甲尼撒王稱之曰伯提沙撒、心靈性敏、有知識、具聰明、解夢兆、明隱語、釋奧義、釋奧義或作能分辨難解之奧義下同今可召之至、必能解其文字之意、

誨我云、但以理、我來為欲使爾明悟此事、爾始禱之時、我已奉命來示爾、蓋爾大蒙恩寵、當悟會我言、明通異象之義、

既而但以理至我前、彼循我所敬之神名、稱伯提沙撒、素為聖神明之神所感、我遂以夢告之曰、

今我以確然之事告爾、巴西國又有三王興、後更有一王、即第四王、甚為富饒、愈於諸王、因其富饒成強、則激動一切以攻雅完之國、則激動一切以攻雅完之國或作此一切激動雅完諸邦
