求你不叫我的心偏向邪惡，以致我和作孽的人同行惡事；也不叫我吃他們的美食。

你們看屬肉體的以色列人，那吃祭物的豈不是在祭壇上有分嗎？我是怎麼說呢？豈是說祭偶像之物算得甚麼呢？或說偶像算得甚麼呢？我乃是說，外邦人所獻的祭是祭鬼，不是祭神。我不願意你們與鬼相交。你們不能喝主的杯又喝鬼的杯，不能吃主的筵席又吃鬼的筵席。

作惡的人哪，你們離開我吧！我好遵守我神的命令。

倘若人心裏堅定，沒有不得已的事，並且由得自己作主，心裏又決定了留下女兒不出嫁，如此行也好。

就是向來吃他們祭牲的脂油，喝他們奠祭之酒的，在哪裏呢？他可以興起幫助你們，護衛你們。

他到了那裏，看見神所賜的恩就歡喜，勸勉眾人，立定心志，恆久靠主。

各人要隨本心所酌定的，不要作難，不要勉強，因為捐得樂意的人是神所喜愛的。

王派定將自己所用的膳和所飲的酒，每日賜他們一分，養他們三年。滿了三年，好叫他們在王面前侍立。

若有人對你們說：「這是獻過祭的物」，就要為那告訴你們的人，並為良心的緣故不吃。我說的良心不是你的，乃是他的。我這自由為甚麼被別人的良心論斷呢？我若謝恩而吃，為甚麼因我謝恩的物被人毀謗呢？所以，你們或吃或喝，無論做甚麼，都要為榮耀神而行。

你公義的典章，我曾起誓遵守，我必按誓而行。

但人不都有這等知識。有人到如今因拜慣了偶像，就以為所吃的是祭偶像之物。他們的良心既然軟弱，也就污穢了。其實食物不能叫神看中我們，因為我們不吃也無損，吃也無益。只是你們要謹慎，恐怕你們這自由竟成了那軟弱人的絆腳石。若有人見你這有知識的，在偶像的廟裏坐席，這人的良心若是軟弱，豈不放膽去吃那祭偶像之物嗎？

你若因食物叫弟兄憂愁，就不是按着愛人的道理行。基督已經替他死，你不可因你的食物叫他敗壞。不可叫你的善被人毀謗；因為神的國不在乎吃喝，只在乎公義、和平，並聖靈中的喜樂。

彼得卻說：「主啊，這是不可的！凡俗物和不潔淨的物，我從來沒有吃過。」第二次有聲音向他說：「神所潔淨的，你不可當作俗物。」這樣一連三次，那物隨即收回天上去了。

我定意要為耶和華－我神的名建殿，是照耶和華應許我父親大衛的話說：『我必使你兒子接續你坐你的位，他必為我的名建殿。』

你在哪裏死，我也在那裏死，也葬在那裏。除非死能使你我相離！不然，願耶和華重重地降罰與我。」拿俄米見路得定意要跟隨自己去，就不再勸她了。

他們又與巴力‧毗珥連合，且吃了祭死神的物。
