巴拿巴到了，看見神的恩典就感到歡喜，鼓勵大家要立定心志，繼續靠主，

每個人要照著心裡預先定好的，不要為難，也不要勉強，因為神喜愛那樂意給與的人。

王從自己的美食和所飲用的酒中，給他們指定了每天的份額，要他們受教養三年；三年結束後，他們將在王面前侍立。

但如果有人對你們說：「這是祭過偶像的食物」，那麼，為了那指明這事的人和良心的緣故，你們就不要吃——我說的良心不是你自己的，而是那個人的，因為我的自由何必被別人的良心評斷呢？如果我懷著感恩的心領受，難道有什麼能使我為所感謝的東西而受到毀謗嗎？因此，你們無論或吃、或喝、或做什麼，一切都要為神的榮耀而做。

我起了誓並且堅守，要遵守你公義的法規。

然而，不是所有的人都有這知識。有些人因習慣了偶像，至今還以為所吃的是祭過偶像的食物。他們的良心因為軟弱，就被玷汙了。其實食物不能使我們接近神；我們如果不吃也不會缺少什麼，吃了也不會增加什麼。不過要當心，免得你們的這權利成了軟弱之人的絆跌物。因為，如果有人看見你這有知識的人在偶像的廟裡坐席，難道不就鼓勵了他軟弱的良心，使他也去吃那祭過偶像的食物嗎？

如果因食物的緣故使你的弟兄憂傷，你就不再是憑著愛行事了。基督已經替他死了，不可因你的食物毀了他。所以，不要讓你們看為好的事受到毀謗，因為神的國不在於吃喝，而在於聖靈裡的公義、和睦、喜樂。

彼得卻說：「主啊，千萬不可！因為我從來沒有吃過任何俗物和不潔淨的東西。」那聲音第二次又對他說：「神所潔淨的，你不可當做汙穢的。」這樣一連有三次，那東西隨即被收回天上去了。

你死在哪裡，我也死在哪裡、葬在哪裡。除了死以外，如果有什麼使你我分離，就願耶和華處置我，重重地處置我！」娜娥米看見路得已經決意要與她一同走，就不再對她說什麼了。
