求你不要容我的心偏向惡事，免得我和作孽的人一同行惡，也不要使我吃他們的美食。

因為我是耶和華，曾把你們從埃及地領上來，為要作你們的神；你們要分別為聖，因為我是聖潔的。”以上就是有關走獸、飛禽、所有在水中游行的動物，和所有在地上爬行的動物的律例，為要把不潔淨的和潔淨的，可吃的生物和不可吃的生物，分別出來。

你們看看按肉身是以色列人，那些吃祭物的不就是與祭壇有分嗎？我說的是甚麼意思呢？偶像算得甚麼，還是祭過偶像的食物算得甚麼？我是說，教外人所祭的是鬼，不是獻給神；我卻不願意你們與鬼來往。你們不能喝主的杯又喝鬼的杯，你們不能參加主的筵席又參加鬼的筵席。

作惡的人哪！你們離開我吧，好讓我遵守我神的命令。

但如果他心裡堅決，沒有甚麼不得已的原因，又可以控制自己的意志，決心讓女朋友持守獨身；這樣作也是好的。

就是向來吃他們祭牲脂肪的，喝他們奠祭之酒的神在哪裡呢？讓他們興起來幫助你們吧，願他們保護你們吧！

他到了那裡，看見神所施的恩，就很歡喜，勸勉眾人堅心靠主。

各人要照著心裡所決定的捐輸，不要為難，不必勉強，因為捐得樂意的人，是神所喜愛的。

王指定每日給他們一份御用的佳餚美酒；又教養他們三年。期滿以後，他們就侍立在王面前。

但是如果有人告訴你們：“這是獻過祭的食物。”那麼，為了那告訴你們的人，也為了良心的緣故，就不要吃。我說的良心，不是你的，而是他的。為甚麼我的自由要受別人的良心論斷呢？我若存著感恩的心吃了，為甚麼我因著我所感恩的食物被人毀謗呢？所以，你們或吃喝，或作甚麼，一切都要為神的榮耀而行。

我曾起誓，並且堅守誓言，我必遵守你公義的典章。

不過，這種知識不是人人都有的。有些人直到現在習慣了拜偶像的事，因此他們吃的時候，就把這些食物看作是真的獻過給偶像的；他們的良心既然軟弱，就被污穢了。其實食物不能使我們親近神，我們不吃也無損，吃也無益。然而你們要謹慎，免得你們這自由成了軟弱的人的絆腳石。因為如果有人看見你這有知識的人，在偶像的廟裡吃喝，他的良心若是軟弱，他不就放膽去吃那祭過偶像的食物嗎？

如果你為了食物使你的弟兄憂愁，你就不再是憑著愛心行事了。你不可因著你的食物，使基督已經替他死了的人滅亡。所以，不可使你們看為好的被人毀謗；因為神的國不在於吃喝，而在於公義、和睦，以及聖靈裡的喜樂。

彼得說：“主啊，千萬不可！我從來不吃俗物和不潔的東西。”第二次又有聲音對他說：“神所潔淨的，你不可當作俗物。”這樣一連三次，那件東西就立刻收回天上去了。

所以我有意要為耶和華我的神的名建造殿宇，正如耶和華曾對我的父親大衛說：‘你的兒子，就是我要使他接續你坐在王位上的，要為我的名建造殿宇。’

你死在哪裡，我也要死在哪裡，葬在哪裡。除非死亡把你我分離；如果我離開你，願耶和華加倍懲罰我。”拿俄米看路得堅決要跟她走，就不再多費唇舌了。

他們又歸附巴力．毘珥，吃了祭過死神的祭物。
