因为我是耶和华，曾把你们从埃及地领上来，为要作你们的神；你们要分别为圣，因为我是圣洁的。”以上就是有关走兽、飞禽、所有在水中游行的动物，和所有在地上爬行的动物的律例，为要把不洁净的和洁净的，可吃的生物和不可吃的生物，分别出来。

你们看看按肉身是以色列人，那些吃祭物的不就是与祭坛有分吗？我说的是什么意思呢？偶像算得什么，还是祭过偶像的食物算得什么？我是说，教外人所祭的是鬼，不是献给神；我却不愿意你们与鬼来往。你们不能喝主的杯又喝鬼的杯，你们不能参加主的筵席又参加鬼的筵席。

作恶的人哪！你们离开我吧，好让我遵守我神的命令。

但如果他心里坚决，没有什么不得已的原因，又可以控制自己的意志，决心让女朋友持守独身；这样作也是好的。

就是向来吃他们祭牲脂肪的，喝他们奠祭之酒的神在哪里呢？让他们兴起来帮助你们吧，愿他们保护你们吧！

他到了那里，看见神所施的恩，就很欢喜，劝勉众人坚心靠主。

各人要照着心里所决定的捐输，不要为难，不必勉强，因为捐得乐意的人，是神所喜爱的。

王指定每日给他们一份御用的佳肴美酒；又教养他们三年。期满以后，他们就侍立在王面前。

但是如果有人告诉你们：“这是献过祭的食物。”那么，为了那告诉你们的人，也为了良心的缘故，就不要吃。我说的良心，不是你的，而是他的。为什么我的自由要受别人的良心论断呢？我若存着感恩的心吃了，为什么我因着我所感恩的食物被人毁谤呢？所以，你们或吃喝，或作什么，一切都要为神的荣耀而行。

我曾起誓，并且坚守誓言，我必遵守你公义的典章。

不过，这种知识不是人人都有的。有些人直到现在习惯了拜偶像的事，因此他们吃的时候，就把这些食物看作是真的献过给偶像的；他们的良心既然软弱，就被污秽了。其实食物不能使我们亲近神，我们不吃也无损，吃也无益。然而你们要谨慎，免得你们这自由成了软弱的人的绊脚石。因为如果有人看见你这有知识的人，在偶像的庙里吃喝，他的良心若是软弱，他不就放胆去吃那祭过偶像的食物吗？

如果你为了食物使你的弟兄忧愁，你就不再是凭着爱心行事了。你不可因着你的食物，使基督已经替他死了的人灭亡。所以，不可使你们看为好的被人毁谤；因为神的国不在于吃喝，而在于公义、和睦，以及圣灵里的喜乐。

彼得说：“主啊，千万不可！我从来不吃俗物和不洁的东西。”第二次又有声音对他说：“神所洁净的，你不可当作俗物。”这样一连三次，那件东西就立刻收回天上去了。

所以我有意要为耶和华我的神的名建造殿宇，正如耶和华曾对我的父亲大卫说：‘你的儿子，就是我要使他接续你坐在王位上的，要为我的名建造殿宇。’

你死在哪里，我也要死在哪里，葬在哪里。除非死亡把你我分离；如果我离开你，愿耶和华加倍惩罚我。”拿俄米看路得坚决要跟她走，就不再多费唇舌了。

他们又归附巴力．毗珥，吃了祭过死神的祭物。
