youths without blemish, of good appearance and skillful in all wisdom, endowed with knowledge, understanding learning, and competent to stand in the king’s palace, and to teach them the literature and language of the Chaldeans.

就是年少没有残疾、相貌俊美、通达各样学问、知识聪明俱备、足能侍立在王宫里的，要教他们迦勒底的文字言语。

即少年無疵、美姿容、嫻智慧、具知識、明格致、可侍於王宮者、教以迦勒底人之學術語言、

皆無瑕疵、丰采甚都、智識兼備、可立於朝者、教以迦勒底人語言文字王日賜以糈糧酒醴、比及三年、乃使侍於王前、

選少者數人、皆須無瑕疵、相貌俊美、通達各學各術、知識具備、可侍立於王宮者、當教之以迦勒底之文詞言語、

young men without any physical defect, handsome, showing aptitude for every kind of learning, well informed, quick to understand, and qualified to serve in the king’s palace. He was to teach them the language and literature of the Babylonians.

He was looking for young men who were healthy and handsome. They had to be able to learn anything. They had to be well educated. They had to have the ability to understand new things quickly and easily. The king wanted men who could serve in his palace. Ashpenaz was supposed to teach them the Babylonian language and writings.

“ Select only strong, healthy, and good looking young men,” he said.“ Make sure they are well versed in every branch of learning, are gifted with knowledge and good judgment, and are suited to serve in the royal palace. Train these young men in the language and literature of Babylon.”

And Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and he was mighty in his words and deeds.

Now in all Israel there was no one so much to be praised for his handsome appearance as Absalom. From the sole of his foot to the crown of his head there was no blemish in him.

Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men.

If anyone injures his neighbor, as he has done it shall be done to him,fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth; whatever injury he has given a person shall be given to him.

As for these four youths, God gave them learning and skill in all literature and wisdom, and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.At the end of the time, when the king had commanded that they should be brought in, the chief of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.And the king spoke with them, and among all of them none was found like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. Therefore they stood before the king.And in every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters that were in all his kingdom.

For no one who has a blemish shall draw near, a man blind or lame, or one who has a mutilated face or a limb too long,or a man who has an injured foot or an injured hand,or a hunchback or a dwarf or a man with a defect in his sight or an itching disease or scabs or crushed testicles.No man of the offspring of Aaron the priest who has a blemish shall come near to offer the Lord’s food offerings; since he has a blemish, he shall not come near to offer the bread of his God.

The king called loudly to bring in the enchanters, the Chaldeans, and the astrologers. The king declared to the wise men of Babylon,“ Whoever reads this writing, and shows me its interpretation, shall be clothed with purple and have a chain of gold around his neck and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.”

At this time Moses was born; and he was beautiful in God’s sight. And he was brought up for three months in his father’s house,

Then the Chaldeans said to the king in Aramaic,“ O king, live forever! Tell your servants the dream, and we will show the interpretation.”The king answered and said to the Chaldeans,“ The word from me is firm: if you do not make known to me the dream and its interpretation, you shall be torn limb from limb, and your houses shall be laid in ruins.

Then the king commanded that the magicians, the enchanters, the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans be summoned to tell the king his dreams. So they came in and stood before the king.

Then the magicians, the enchanters, the Chaldeans, and the astrologers came in, and I told them the dream, but they could not make known to me its interpretation.

Then he said to Zebah and Zalmunna,“ Where are the men whom you killed at Tabor?” They answered,“ As you are, so were they. Every one of them resembled the son of a king.”

Therefore at that time certain Chaldeans came forward and maliciously accused the Jews.

Wisdom gives strength to the wise man more than ten rulers who are in a city.

so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.

The Chaldeans answered the king and said,“ There is not a man on earth who can meet the king’s demand, for no great and powerful king has asked such a thing of any magician or enchanter or Chaldean.

Daniel answered and said:“ Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might.He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding;
