In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom.

He asked them for advice in matters that required wisdom and understanding. The king always found their answers to be the best. Other men in his kingdom claimed to get knowledge by using magic. But the answers of Daniel and his friends were ten times better than theirs.

And in every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters that were in all his kingdom.

Whenever the king consulted them in any matter requiring wisdom and balanced judgment, he found them ten times more capable than any of the magicians and enchanters in his entire kingdom.

In every matter of wisdom and understanding that the king consulted them about, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and mediums in his entire kingdom.

And God gave Solomon wisdom and exceedingly great understanding, and largeness of heart like the sand on the seashore.Thus Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the men of the East and all the wisdom of Egypt.For he was wiser than all men— than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol; and his fame was in all the surrounding nations.He spoke three thousand proverbs, and his songs were one thousand and five.Also he spoke of trees, from the cedar tree of Lebanon even to the hyssop that springs out of the wall; he spoke also of animals, of birds, of creeping things, and of fish.And men of all nations, from all the kings of the earth who had heard of his wisdom, came to hear the wisdom of Solomon.

Then the magicians said to Pharaoh,“ This is the finger of God.” But Pharaoh’s heart grew hard, and he did not heed them, just as the Lord had said.

Now it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled, and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt and all its wise men. And Pharaoh told them his dreams, but there was no one who could interpret them for Pharaoh.

“ Stand now with your enchantments And the multitude of your sorceries, In which you have labored from your youth— Perhaps you will be able to profit, Perhaps you will prevail.You are wearied in the multitude of your counsels; Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, And the monthly prognosticators Stand up and save you From what shall come upon you.Behold, they shall be as stubble, The fire shall burn them; They shall not deliver themselves From the power of the flame; It shall not be a coal to be warmed by, Nor a fire to sit before!

And the magicians did so with their enchantments, and brought up frogs on the land of Egypt.

The spirit of Egypt will fail in its midst; I will destroy their counsel, And they will consult the idols and the charmers, The mediums and the sorcerers.

So it was, when the Jews who dwelt near them came, that they told us ten times,“ From whatever place you turn, they will be upon us.”

So King Solomon surpassed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom.Now all the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.

Then the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments; and Pharaoh’s heart grew hard, and he did not heed them, as the Lord had said.

because all these men who have seen My glory and the signs which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have put Me to the test now these ten times, and have not heeded My voice,

So the decree went out, and they began killing the wise men; and they sought Daniel and his companions, to kill them.

Yet your father has deceived me and changed my wages ten times, but God did not allow him to hurt me.

These ten times you have reproached me; You are not ashamed that you have wronged me.

Then the king gave the command to call the magicians, the astrologers, the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans to tell the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.And the king said to them,“ I have had a dream, and my spirit is anxious to know the dream.”Then the Chaldeans spoke to the king in Aramaic,“ O king, live forever! Tell your servants the dream, and we will give the interpretation.”The king answered and said to the Chaldeans,“ My decision is firm: if you do not make known the dream to me, and its interpretation, you shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made an ash heap.However, if you tell the dream and its interpretation, you shall receive from me gifts, rewards, and great honor. Therefore tell me the dream and its interpretation.”They answered again and said,“ Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will give its interpretation.”The king answered and said,“ I know for certain that you would gain time, because you see that my decision is firm:if you do not make known the dream to me, there is only one decree for you! For you have agreed to speak lying and corrupt words before me till the time has changed. Therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that you can give me its interpretation.”The Chaldeans answered the king, and said,“ There is not a man on earth who can tell the king’s matter; therefore no king, Lord, or ruler has ever asked such things of any magician, astrologer, or Chaldean.It is a difficult thing that the king requests, and there is no other who can tell it to the king except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.”

Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said,“ The secret which the king has demanded, the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, and the soothsayers cannot declare to the king.But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will be in the latter days. Your dream, and the visions of your head upon your bed, were these:

The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. The king spoke, saying to the wise men of Babylon,“ Whoever reads this writing, and tells me its interpretation, shall be clothed with purple and have a chain of gold around his neck; and he shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.”Now all the king’s wise men came, but they could not read the writing, or make known to the king its interpretation.

Then the magicians, the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers came in, and I told them the dream; but they did not make known to me its interpretation.But at last Daniel came before me( his name is Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god; in him is the Spirit of the Holy God), and I told the dream before him, saying:“ Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, because I know that the Spirit of the Holy God is in you, and no secret troubles you, explain to me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and its interpretation.“ These were the visions of my head while on my bed: I was looking, and behold, A tree in the midst of the earth, And its height was great.The tree grew and became strong; Its height reached to the heavens, And it could be seen to the ends of all the earth.Its leaves were lovely, Its fruit abundant, And in it was food for all. The beasts of the field found shade under it, The birds of the heavens dwelt in its branches, And all flesh was fed from it.“ I saw in the visions of my head while on my bed, and there was a watcher, a holy one, coming down from heaven.He cried aloud and said thus:‘ Chop down the tree and cut off its branches, Strip off its leaves and scatter its fruit. Let the beasts get out from under it, And the birds from its branches.Nevertheless leave the stump and roots in the earth, Bound with a band of iron and bronze, In the tender grass of the field. Let it be wet with the dew of heaven, And let him graze with the beasts On the grass of the earth.Let his heart be changed from that of a man, Let him be given the heart of a beast, And let seven times pass over him.‘ This decision is by the decree of the watchers, And the sentence by the word of the holy ones, In order that the living may know That the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, Gives it to whomever He will, And sets over it the lowest of men.’“ This dream I, King Nebuchadnezzar, have seen. Now you, Belteshazzar, declare its interpretation, since all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known to me the interpretation; but you are able, for the Spirit of the Holy God is in you.”

But Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers; so the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.For every man threw down his rod, and they became serpents. But Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.

I have more understanding than all my teachers, For Your testimonies are my meditation.

Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith;but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.

And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise And knowledge to those who have understanding.

Now when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord, she came to test him with hard questions.She came to Jerusalem with a very great retinue, with camels that bore spices, very much gold, and precious stones; and when she came to Solomon, she spoke with him about all that was in her heart.So Solomon answered all her questions; there was nothing so difficult for the king that he could not explain it to her.

Then Daniel answered, and said before the king,“ Let your gifts be for yourself, and give your rewards to another; yet I will read the writing to the king, and make known to him the interpretation.
