He changes the times and seasons; he removes kings and establishes kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.

Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God— who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly— and it will be given to him.

For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

I offer thanks and praise to you, God of my ancestors, because you have given me wisdom and power. And now you have let me know what we asked of you, for you have let us know the king’s mystery.

Your command makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is always with me.I have more insight than all my teachers because your decrees are my meditation.I understand more than the elders because I obey your precepts.

For this reason also, since the day we heard this, we haven’t stopped praying for you. We are asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding,

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

for I will give you such words and a wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict.

In the third year of King Cyrus of Persia, a message was revealed to Daniel, who was named Belteshazzar. The message was true and was about a great conflict. He understood the message and had understanding of the vision.

he said:“ Listen to what I say: If there is a prophet among you from the LORD, I make myself known to him in a vision; I speak with him in a dream.

For to the person who is pleasing in his sight, he gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy; but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and accumulating in order to give to the one who is pleasing in God’s sight. This too is futile and a pursuit of the wind.

and rescued him out of all his troubles. He gave him favor and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, who appointed him ruler over Egypt and over his whole household.

Now grant me wisdom and knowledge so that I may lead these people, for who can judge this great people of yours?”

“ Belteshazzar, head of the magicians, because I know that you have the spirit of the holy gods and that no mystery puzzles you, explain to me the visions of my dream that I saw, and its interpretation.In the visions of my mind as I was lying in bed, I saw this: There was a tree in the middle of the earth, and it was very tall.

God gave Solomon wisdom, very great insight, and understanding as vast as the sand on the seashore.Solomon’s wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the people of the East, greater than all the wisdom of Egypt.He was wiser than anyone— wiser than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, Calcol, and Darda, sons of Mahol. His reputation extended to all the surrounding nations.

So Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was powerful in his speech and actions.

His God teaches him order; he instructs him.

All Israel heard about the judgment the king had given, and they stood in awe of the king because they saw that God’s wisdom was in him to carry out justice.

He sought God throughout the lifetime of Zechariah, the teacher of the fear of God. During the time that he sought the LORD, God gave him success.

There is a man in your kingdom who has a spirit of the holy gods in him. In the days of your predecessor he was found to have insight, intelligence, and wisdom like the wisdom of the gods. Your predecessor, King Nebuchadnezzar, appointed him chief of the magicians, mediums, Chaldeans, and diviners. Your own predecessor, the king,did this because Daniel, the one the king named Belteshazzar, was found to have an extraordinary spirit, knowledge and intelligence, and the ability to interpret dreams, explain riddles, and solve problems. Therefore, summon Daniel, and he will give the interpretation.”

In the first year of King Belshazzar of Babylon, Daniel had a dream with visions in his mind as he was lying in his bed. He wrote down the dream, and here is the summary of his account.

When morning came, he was troubled, so he summoned all the magicians of Egypt and all its wise men. Pharaoh told them his dreams, but no one could interpret them for him.Then the chief cupbearer said to Pharaoh,“ Today I remember my faults.Pharaoh was angry with his servants, and he put me and the chief baker in the custody of the captain of the guards.He and I had dreams on the same night; each dream had its own meaning.Now a young Hebrew, a slave of the captain of the guards, was with us there. We told him our dreams, he interpreted our dreams for us, and each had its own interpretation.It turned out just the way he interpreted them to us: I was restored to my position, and the other man was hanged.”Then Pharaoh sent for Joseph, and they quickly brought him from the dungeon. He shaved, changed his clothes, and went to Pharaoh.Pharaoh said to Joseph,“ I have had a dream, and no one can interpret it. But I have heard it said about you that you can hear a dream and interpret it.”

A manifestation of the Spirit is given to each person for the common good:to one is given a message of wisdom through the Spirit, to another, a message of knowledge by the same Spirit,to another, faith by the same Spirit, to another, gifts of healing by the one Spirit,to another, the performing of miracles, to another, prophecy, to another, distinguishing between spirits, to another, different kinds of tongues, to another, interpretation of tongues.One and the same Spirit is active in all these, distributing to each person as he wills.

I’ve heard that you have a spirit of the gods in you, and that insight, intelligence, and extraordinary wisdom are found in you.

wisdom and knowledge are given to you. I will also give you riches, wealth, and glory, unlike what was given to the kings who were before you, or will be given to those after you.”

In the third year of King Belshazzar’s reign, a vision appeared to me, Daniel, after the one that had appeared to me earlier.

Yes, you are wiser than Daniel; no secret is hidden from you!

The mystery was then revealed to Daniel in a vision at night, and Daniel praised the God of the heavens

But they were unable to stand up against his wisdom and the Spirit by whom he was speaking.
