An angry person stirs up dissension, and a wrathful person is abounding in transgression.

So put to deat h whatever in your nature belongs to the earth: sexual immorality, impurity, shameful passion, evil desire, and greed which is idolatry.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, we must get rid of every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and run with endurance the race set out for us,

Neither should there be vulgar speech, foolish talk, or coarse jesting– all of which are out of character– but rather thanksgiving.

Among these are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I handed over to Satan to be taught not to blaspheme.

Starting a quarrel is like letting out water; stop it before strife breaks out!

Do they not blaspheme the good name of the one you belong to?

adultery, greed, evil, deceit, debauchery, envy, slander, pride, and folly.

For by speaking high- sounding but empty words they are able to entice, with fleshly desires and with debauchery, people who have just escaped from those who reside in error.

Look at ships too: Though they are so large and driven by harsh winds, they are steered by a tiny rudder wherever the pilot’s inclination directs.So too the tongue is a small part of the body, yet it has great pretensions. Think how small a flame sets a huge forest ablaze.And the tongue is a fire! The tongue represents the world of wrongdoing among the parts of our bodies. It pollutes the entire body and sets fire to the course of human existence– and is set on fire by hell.

Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, being jealous of one another.
