Now seek the Lord your God with all your heart and soul. Build the sanctuary of the Lord God so that you can bring the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant and the holy vessels of God into the Temple built to honor the Lord’s name.”

Jesus turned to Peter and said,“ Get away from me, Satan! You are a dangerous trap to me. You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God’s.”

He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit.Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit.So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand.

Give me an eagerness for your laws rather than a love for money!Turn my eyes from worthless things, and give me life through your word.

“ Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal.

Then he said,“ Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.”

They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth.But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior.

So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.

Don’t make your living by extortion or put your hope in stealing. And if your wealth increases, don’t make it the center of your life.

The Lord says,“ I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name.

And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven?

I’m torn between two desires: I long to go and be with Christ, which would be far better for me.

“ And now, because of my devotion to the Temple of my God, I am giving all of my own private treasures of gold and silver to help in the construction. This is in addition to the building materials I have already collected for his holy Temple.

Enjoy prosperity while you can, but when hard times strike, realize that both come from God. Remember that nothing is certain in this life.

The grave is their eternal home, where they will stay forever. They may name their estates after themselves,but their fame will not last. They will die, just like animals.This is the fate of fools, though they are remembered as being wise. InterludeLike sheep, they are led to the grave, where death will be their shepherd. In the morning the godly will rule over them. Their bodies will rot in the grave, far from their grand estates.But as for me, God will redeem my life. He will snatch me from the power of the grave. InterludeSo don’t be dismayed when the wicked grow rich and their homes become ever more splendid.For when they die, they take nothing with them. Their wealth will not follow them into the grave.

Jesus said,“ There was a certain rich man who was splendidly clothed in purple and fine linen and who lived each day in luxury.At his gate lay a poor man named Lazarus who was covered with sores.As Lazarus lay there longing for scraps from the rich man’s table, the dogs would come and lick his open sores.“ Finally, the poor man died and was carried by the angels to sit beside Abraham at the heavenly banquet. The rich man also died and was buried,and he went to the place of the dead. There, in torment, he saw Abraham in the far distance with Lazarus at his side.“ The rich man shouted,‘ Father Abraham, have some pity! Send Lazarus over here to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue. I am in anguish in these flames.’“ But Abraham said to him,‘ Son, remember that during your lifetime you had everything you wanted, and Lazarus had nothing. So now he is here being comforted, and you are in anguish.

“ The rich man had to admire the dishonest rascal for being so shrewd. And it is true that the children of this world are more shrewd in dealing with the world around them than are the children of the light.Here’s the lesson: Use your worldly resources to benefit others and make friends. Then, when your possessions are gone, they will welcome you to an eternal home.

In the blink of an eye wealth disappears, for it will sprout wings and fly away like an eagle.
