For though they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God or show gratitude. Instead, their thinking became nonsense, and their senseless minds were darkened.Claiming to be wise, they became fools

In the same way we also, when we were children, were in slavery under the elemental forces of the world.

Let no one disqualify you, insisting on ascetic practices and the worship of angels, claiming access to a visionary realm and inflated without cause by his unspiritual mind.

Don’t be led astray by various kinds of strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be established by grace and not by foods, since those involved in them have not benefited.

Watch out for“ dogs,” watch out for evil workers, watch out for those who mutilate the flesh.

For you know that you were redeemed from your empty way of life inherited from the fathers, not with perishable things like silver or gold,

Then Jesus told them,“ Watch out and beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

But that is not how you learned about the Messiah,

in which you previously walked according to the ways of this world, according to the ruler who exercises authority over the lower heavens, the spirit now working in the disobedient.

Then also, some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers argued with him. Some said,“ What is this pseudo-intellectual trying to say?” Others replied,“ He seems to be a preacher of foreign deities”— because he was telling the good news about Jesus and the Resurrection.

( For the Pharisees, in fact all the Jews, will not eat unless they wash their hands ritually, keeping the tradition of the elders.When they come from the marketplace, they do not eat unless they have washed. And you do many other similar things.”

When they heard about resurrection of the dead, some began to ridicule him. But others said,“ We’d like to hear from you again about this.”
