爾既與基督同死、以絕世之小學、胡為從乎世、服於儀文乎、

爾效基督之死、脫此世小學、奚可從世故、尚儀文乎、

若爾與基督同死、脫斯世之賤質、何仍遵儀文、似猶活於世俗中、

爾等既與基督同死、而已灑然脫於世俗之蒙學矣、乃何又鰓鰓遵循人為之禁令、一若尚生於世俗之中耶？

Since you died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world, why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules:

Some people still follow the basic spiritual powers of the world. But you died with Christ as far as these powers are concerned. So why do you act as if you still belong to the world? Here are the rules you follow.

If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations—

You have died with Christ, and he has set you free from the spiritual powers of this world. So why do you keep on following the rules of the world, such as,

If you died with Christ to the elements of this world, why do you live as if you still belonged to the world? Why do you submit to regulations:

If you have died with Christ to the elementary principles of the world, why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself to decrees, such as,

Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations—

If ye died with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, do ye subject yourselves to ordinances,

If you died with the Messiah to the elemental forces of this world, why do you live as if you still belonged to the world? Why do you submit to regulations:

Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,

If you have died with Christ to the elemental spirits of the world, why do you submit to them as though you lived in the world?

Be careful that you don’t let anyone rob you through his philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the elements of the world, and not after Christ.

So we also, when we were children, were held in bondage under the elemental principles of the world.

Let no one therefore judge you in eating, or in drinking, or with respect to a feast day or a new moon or a Sabbath day,

wiping out the handwriting in ordinances which was against us. He has taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross.

We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.

Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind; for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,that you no longer should live the rest of your time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.For we have spent enough of our past time doing the desire of the Gentiles, and having walked in lewdness, lusts, drunken binges, orgies, carousings, and abominable idolatries.

Therefore, my brothers, you also were made dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you would be joined to another, to him who was raised from the dead, that we might produce fruit to God.For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were through the law worked in our members to bring out fruit to death.But now we have been discharged from the law, having died to that in which we were held; so that we serve in newness of the spirit, and not in oldness of the letter.

For I, through the law, died to the law, that I might live to God.I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I that live, but Christ lives in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.

Don’t be carried away by various and strange teachings, for it is good that the heart be established by grace, not by food, through which those who were so occupied were not benefited.

For though we walk in the flesh, we don’t wage war according to the flesh;

having abolished in his flesh the hostility, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man of the two, making peace,

You adulterers and adulteresses, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

But far be it from me to boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

I have given them your word. The world hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.I pray not that you would take them from the world, but that you would keep them from the evil one.They are not of the world even as I am not of the world.

But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, why do you turn back again to the weak and miserable elemental principles, to which you desire to be in bondage all over again?You observe days, months, seasons, and years.I am afraid for you, that I might have wasted my labor for you.I beg you, brothers, become as I am, for I also have become as you are. You did me no wrong,

If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, since I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

May it never be! We who died to sin, how could we live in it any longer?Or don’t you know that all we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will also be part of his resurrection;knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin.For he who has died has been freed from sin.But if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him;knowing that Christ, being raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over him!For the death that he died, he died to sin one time; but the life that he lives, he lives to God.Thus consider yourselves also to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
