For I want you to know how great a struggle I have for you and for those at Laodicea and for all who have not seen me face to face,

我希望你們知道，我為你們和那些在勞迪西亞的人，以及一切沒有親自看到我面的人，有多麼大的爭戰，

蓋我欲爾知、我為爾與在老底嘉、及凡未覿我面者、如何盡力、

我欲爾知我為爾及老底嘉人、與未嘗覿面者、多竭心思、

我願爾知我為爾曹及老底嘉人、與凡未見我面者、如何心切、

爾等應知予為爾等及老底嘉同人之故、且為未曾睹面者之故、如何勞心焦思、而為之努力奮鬥也。予之為此、亦欲有以鼓勵同人之心、

I want you to know how hard I am contending for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not met me personally.

I want you to know how hard I am working for you. I’m concerned for those who are in Laodicea. I’m also concerned for everyone who has not met me in person.

I want you to know how much I have agonized for you and for the church at Laodicea, and for many other believers who have never met me personally.

For I want you to know how greatly I am struggling for you, for those in Laodicea, and for all who have not seen me in person.

For I want you to know how great a struggle I have in your behalf and for those who are at Laodicea, and for all those who have not personally seen my face,

For I want you to know what a great conflict I have for you and those in Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh,

For I would have you know how greatly I strive for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;

For I want you to know how great a struggle I have for you, for those in Laodicea, and for all who have not seen me in person.

For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and[ for] them at Laodicea, and[ for] as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;

For I want you to know how great a struggle I have for you, and for those in Laodicea, and for those who have not met me face to face.

For I desire to have you know how greatly I struggle for you, and for those at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;

For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.

Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ Jesus, greets you, always struggling on your behalf in his prayers, that you may stand mature and fully assured in all the will of God.For I bear him witness that he has worked hard for you and for those in Laodicea and in Hierapolis.

engaged in the same conflict that you saw I had and now hear that I still have.

saying,“ Write what you see in a book and send it to the seven churches, to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea.”

Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church,

In the womb he took his brother by the heel, and in his manhood he strove with God.He strove with the angel and prevailed; he wept and sought his favor. He met God at Bethel, and there God spoke with us—

being sorrowful most of all because of the word he had spoken, that they would not see his face again. And they accompanied him to the ship.

Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory,

my little children, for whom I am again in the anguish of childbirth until Christ is formed in you!

For though I am absent in body, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the firmness of your faith in Christ.

And being in agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

And now, behold, I know that none of you among whom I have gone about proclaiming the kingdom will see my face again.

But though we had already suffered and been shamefully treated at Philippi, as you know, we had boldness in our God to declare to you the gospel of God in the midst of much conflict.

“ And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write:‘ The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God’s creation.“‘ I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot!So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see.Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’”

And Jacob was left alone. And a man wrestled with him until the breaking of the day.When the man saw that he did not prevail against Jacob, he touched his hip socket, and Jacob’s hip was put out of joint as he wrestled with him.Then he said,“ Let me go, for the day has broken.” But Jacob said,“ I will not let you go unless you bless me.”And he said to him,“ What is your name?” And he said,“ Jacob.”Then he said,“ Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, for you have striven with God and with men, and have prevailed.”Then Jacob asked him,“ Please tell me your name.” But he said,“ Why is it that you ask my name?” And there he blessed him.So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel, saying,“ For I have seen God face to face, and yet my life has been delivered.”

In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence.

Then Rachel said,“ With mighty wrestlings I have wrestled with my sister and have prevailed.” So she called his name Naphtali.

Give my greetings to the brothers at Laodicea, and to Nympha and the church in her house.And when this letter has been read among you, have it also read in the church of the Laodiceans; and see that you also read the letter from Laodicea.
