蓋我欲爾知、我為爾與在老底嘉、及凡未覿我面者、如何盡力、

我欲爾知我為爾及老底嘉人、與未嘗覿面者、多竭心思、

我願爾知我為爾曹及老底嘉人、與凡未見我面者、如何心切、

爾等應知予為爾等及老底嘉同人之故、且為未曾睹面者之故、如何勞心焦思、而為之努力奮鬥也。予之為此、亦欲有以鼓勵同人之心、

I want you to know how hard I am contending for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not met me personally.

I want you to know how hard I am working for you. I’m concerned for those who are in Laodicea. I’m also concerned for everyone who has not met me in person.

For I want you to know how great a struggle I have for you and for those at Laodicea and for all who have not seen me face to face,

I want you to know how much I have agonized for you and for the church at Laodicea, and for many other believers who have never met me personally.

For I want you to know how great a struggle I have in your behalf and for those who are at Laodicea, and for all those who have not personally seen my face,

For I want you to know what a great conflict I have for you and those in Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh,

For I would have you know how greatly I strive for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;

For I want you to know how great a struggle I have for you, for those in Laodicea, and for all who have not seen me in person.

For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and[ for] them at Laodicea, and[ for] as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;

For I want you to know how great a struggle I have for you, and for those in Laodicea, and for those who have not met me face to face.

For I desire to have you know how greatly I struggle for you, and for those at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;

I labor for this, striving with his strength that works powerfully in me.

Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ Jesus, sends you greetings. He is always wrestling for you in his prayers, so that you can stand mature and fully assured in everything God wills.For I testify about him that he works hard for you, for those in Laodicea, and for those in Hierapolis.

since you are engaged in the same struggle that you saw I had and now hear that I have.

saying,“ Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.”

Now I rejoice in my sufferings for you, and I am completing in my flesh what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for his body, that is, the church.

I wish that you were cold or hot.So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am going to vomit you out of my mouth.For you say,‘ I’m rich; I have become wealthy and need nothing,’ and you don’t realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked.I advise you to buy from me gold refined in the fire so that you may be rich, white clothes so that you may be dressed and your shameful nakedness not be exposed, and ointment to spread on your eyes so that you may see.As many as I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be zealous and repent.See! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.“ To the one who conquers I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.“ Let anyone who has ears to hear listen to what the Spirit says to the churches.”

Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him until daybreak.When the man saw that he could not defeat him, he struck Jacob’s hip socket as they wrestled and dislocated his hip.Then he said to Jacob,“ Let me go, for it is daybreak.” But Jacob said,“ I will not let you go unless you bless me.”“ What is your name?” the man asked.“ Jacob,” he replied.“ Your name will no longer be Jacob,” he said.“ It will be Israel because you have struggled with God and with men and have prevailed.”Then Jacob asked him,“ Please tell me your name.” But he answered,“ Why do you ask my name?” And he blessed him there.Jacob then named the place Peniel,“ For I have seen God face to face,” he said,“ yet my life has been spared.”

During his earthly life, he offered prayers and appeals with loud cries and tears to the one who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence.

Rachel said,“ In my wrestlings with God, I have wrestled with my sister and won,” and she named him Naphtali.
