Now I rejoice in what I am suffering for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church.

I am happy because of what I am suffering for you. My suffering joins with and continues the sufferings of Christ. I suffer for his body, which is the church.

不第此也、亦以患難為樂、以患難為樂或作因患難而誇因知患難生忍耐、

故爾勿以證天主之道為恥、亦勿以我因主被囚為恥、當賴天主之能、為福音與我共受苦、

我毅然與爾言、我為爾多有可誇、我於諸患難中、充於安慰、滿於喜樂、

欲知基督及其復生之能、且知共受其苦而效其死、

我既多受基督之苦難、亦賴基督多得安慰、我或受苦、乃為爾得慰得救、使爾能忍我儕同受之苦、我或得慰、亦為爾得慰得救、我為爾曹、確然有望、因知爾同受苦、亦必同受慰、○兄弟、我不欲爾不知、我在亞西亞遭難、被迫特甚、勢不可當、致絕保生命之望、

教會為身、彼乃其首、又為元始、乃首先由死復活者、如此、則於凡事為首矣、

是以我求爾、勿因我為爾受患難而怯、此實爾之榮也、○

我為此福音受苦、至於見繫如犯法者、但天主之道、不能見繫、故我為蒙選者忍受諸難、使彼亦因基督耶穌得救、並得永存之榮、

兄弟乎、爾遇諸艱難之試、當以為樂、

人為我而詬詈爾、窘逐爾、造諸惡言、誹謗爾、則爾福矣、當欣喜歡樂、因在天爾之賞大也、蓋先爾諸先知、人亦曾如是窘逐之也、○

使徒離公會前、皆喜、以其堪為耶穌名受辱也、

我以爾之信為奉獻之祭祀、即我舍命流血、以我血為灌奠、我亦樂之、且與爾同樂、爾亦當為之而樂、且與我同樂、○

為此、我保羅因基督耶穌緣爾異邦人被囚、

彼基督之役乎、我更是也、我言此似狂、我較彼逾勞、逾受笞責、屢次繫獄、屢次瀕死、五次被鞭於猶太人、每次四十減一、三次受杖、一次石擊、三次舟壞、一晝一夜在深海中、常行遠路、曾遭江河之危、盜賊之危、同族之危、異邦人之危、邑中之危、曠野海中之危、偽兄弟之危、受勞受苦、屢不寢、又饑又渴、常禁食、受寒及裸、

我諸事諸事或作隨在遇患難而不窮迫、遇顛沛而不失望、遇窘逐而不見棄、被傾仆而不致亡、我身常冒死如主耶穌、原文作我身常負主耶穌之死使耶穌之生亦顯在我身、我生常為耶穌冒死、使耶穌之生、顯於我將死之身、是則死之力顯於我、生之力顯於爾、

教會即其身、乃以萬有充滿萬有者所充滿也、
