Now I rejoice in what I am suffering for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church.

I am happy because of what I am suffering for you. My suffering joins with and continues the sufferings of Christ. I suffer for his body, which is the church.

Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church,

I am glad when I suffer for you in my body, for I am participating in the sufferings of Christ that continue for his body, the church.

And not only so, but we also rejoice in our tribulations: knowing that tribulation worketh stedfastness;

Great is my boldness of speech toward you, great is my glorying on your behalf: I am filled with comfort, I overflow with joy in all our affliction.

that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed unto his death;

Wherefore I ask that ye may not faint at my tribulations for you, which are your glory.

wherein I suffer hardship unto bonds, as a malefactor; but the word of God is not bound.Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sake, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

Count it all joy, my brethren, when ye fall into manifold temptations;

Blessed are ye when men shall reproach you, and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets that were before you.
