All the sinners among my people will die by the sword, all those who say,‘ Disaster will not overtake or meet us.’

All the sinners among my people will be killed by swords. They say,‘ Nothing bad will ever happen to us.’

All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, who say,‘ Disaster shall not overtake or meet us.’

But all the sinners will die by the sword— all those who say,‘ Nothing bad will happen to us.’

All the sinners among my people who say,“ Disaster will never overtake or confront us,” will die by the sword.

All the sinners of My people will die by the sword, Those who say,‘ The catastrophe will not overtake or confront us.’

All the sinners of My people shall die by the sword, Who say,‘ The calamity shall not overtake nor confront us.’

All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, who say, The evil shall not overtake nor meet us.

All the sinners among My people who say:“ Disaster will never overtake or confront us,” will die by the sword.

You put off the day of disaster and bring near a reign of terror.

The sinners in Zion are terrified; trembling grips the godless:“ Who of us can dwell with the consuming fire? Who of us can dwell with everlasting burning?”

The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.“ I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteousand throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

He says to himself,“ God will never notice; he covers his face and never sees.”

Woe to you who are complacent in Zion, and to you who feel secure on Mount Samaria, you notable men of the foremost nation, to whom the people of Israel come!

I will search for the lost and bring back the strays. I will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak, but the sleek and the strong I will destroy. I will shepherd the flock with justice.“‘ As for you, my flock, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will judge between one sheep and another, and between rams and goats.

“ Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and the day that is coming will set them on fire,” says the Lord Almighty.“ Not a root or a branch will be left to them.

I will purge you of those who revolt and rebel against me. Although I will bring them out of the land where they are living, yet they will not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord.

But now we call the arrogant blessed. Certainly evildoers prosper, and even when they put God to the test, they get away with it.’”

“ Come,” each one cries,“ let me get wine! Let us drink our fill of beer! And tomorrow will be like today, or even far better.”

They said,“ Come, let’s make plans against Jeremiah; for the teaching of the law by the priest will not cease, nor will counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophets. So come, let’s attack him with our tongues and pay no attention to anything he says.”

to those who say,“ Let God hurry; let him hasten his work so we may see it. The plan of the Holy One of Israel— let it approach, let it come into view, so we may know it.”

When the sentence for a crime is not quickly carried out, people’s hearts are filled with schemes to do wrong.

The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil.They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

On that day you, Jerusalem, will not be put to shame for all the wrongs you have done to me, because I will remove from you your arrogant boasters. Never again will you be haughty on my holy hill.But I will leave within you the meek and humble. The remnant of Israel will trust in the name of the Lord.They will do no wrong; they will tell no lies. A deceitful tongue will not be found in their mouths. They will eat and lie down and no one will make them afraid.”

Therefore hear the word of the Lord, you scoffers who rule this people in Jerusalem.You boast,“ We have entered into a covenant with death, with the realm of the dead we have made an agreement. When an overwhelming scourge sweeps by, it cannot touch us, for we have made a lie our refuge and falsehood our hiding place.”

In the whole land,” declares the Lord,“ two-thirds will be struck down and perish; yet one-third will be left in it.This third I will put into the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say,‘ They are my people,’ and they will say,‘ The Lord is our God.’”

But who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner’s fire or a launderer’s soap.He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then the Lord will have men who will bring offerings in righteousness,and the offerings of Judah and Jerusalem will be acceptable to the Lord, as in days gone by, as in former years.“ So I will come to put you on trial. I will be quick to testify against sorcerers, adulterers and perjurers, against those who defraud laborers of their wages, who oppress the widows and the fatherless, and deprive the foreigners among you of justice, but do not fear me,” says the Lord Almighty.
