住棚节期间，你们要和儿女、仆婢、同城的利未人、寄居者及孤儿寡妇一起欢庆。

他们一边饮酒，一边颂赞金、银、铜、铁、木、石所造的神明。突然，有人手的指头出现，在灯台对面王宫的粉墙上写字。王看见那只手在写字，脸色骤变，惊恐万分，两腿发软，双膝颤抖。

愿那日被黑暗和阴影笼罩，被密云覆盖，被阴暗淹没。

这使我充满痛苦，我陷入剧痛中，如同分娩的妇人，我因听见的话而惊慌，因看见的景象而害怕。我心慌意乱，惊惧不堪，我期盼的黄昏却令我恐惧。

你们像纠结的荆棘，又像酩酊大醉的人，要如干秸被火烧尽。

为你放声痛哭，把尘埃撒在头上，在灰中打滚，又为你剃头披麻，悲痛哀伤。

她回到家时，拿八正在大摆宴席，排场如御宴。她见拿八心情愉快，喝得酩酊大醉，就什么也没告诉他，等第二天早上再说。次日清晨，拿八酒醒以后，他妻子把发生的一切告诉他，他吓得昏死过去，身体僵硬如石。过了十天，耶和华击打拿八，他就死了。

押沙龙吩咐仆人说：“你们要留意，当暗嫩喝得正高兴的时候，我叫你们杀他，你们就要动手。不要畏缩，要刚强勇敢！因为这是我的命令。”押沙龙的仆人就照命令把暗嫩杀了。王的众子都起来骑上骡子逃走了。他们还在路上的时候，有人禀告大卫说：“押沙龙把王子都杀了，无一幸免！”王便站起来撕裂衣服，躺在地上。他的臣仆也都撕裂衣服，站在旁边。

撤去你们嘈杂的歌声吧，我不想听到你们的琴音。
