Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent a message to Jeroboam king of Israel:“ Amos is raising a conspiracy against you in the very heart of Israel. The land cannot bear all his words.

Amaziah was priest of Bethel. He sent a message to Jeroboam, the king of Israel. He said,“ Amos is making evil plans against you right here in Israel. The people in the land can’t stand to listen to what he’s saying.

Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying,“ Amos has conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel. The land is not able to bear all his words.

Then Amaziah, the priest of Bethel, sent a message to Jeroboam, king of Israel:“ Amos is hatching a plot against you right here on your very doorstep! What he is saying is intolerable.

Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent word to King Jeroboam of Israel, saying,“ Amos has conspired against you right here in the house of Israel. The land cannot endure all his words,

Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying,“ Amos has conspired against you in the middle of the house of Israel. The land is not able to bear all his words.

這幾位官長就對西底迦王說：「求你處死這人！因為他的話令這城的軍民士氣低落。這人不為人民著想，反要害他們。」

耶利米傳達完耶和華的話之後，祭司、先知和民眾就抓住他，說：「你真該死！你為什麼奉耶和華的名預言這殿必像示羅一樣被毀，這城必要荒無人煙呢？」於是，他們在耶和華的殿裡把耶利米圍了起來。猶大的首領得知後，就離開王宮，上到耶和華的殿，坐在耶和華殿新門的入口。祭司和先知對官員和民眾說：「這人該被處死！因為他預言這城要被毀，這是你們親耳聽到的。」

耶羅波安又在高崗上修建神廟，任命各樣的人做祭司，他們並非利未人。耶羅波安規定每年八月十五日為節期，好像猶大的節期一樣。他自己在伯特利的祭壇上向金牛犢獻祭燒香，又派神廟的祭司在獻祭中司職。

猶大王亞瑪謝執政第十五年，以色列王約阿施的兒子耶羅波安在撒瑪利亞登基，執政四十一年。他做耶和華視為惡的事，沒有離開尼八的兒子耶羅波安使以色列人犯的那些罪。

這事以後，耶羅波安沒有改邪歸正，他任命各種人做邱壇的祭司，不管誰想做祭司，他都封立他們。

『耶和華已立你為祭司代替耶何耶大，管理耶和華的殿，負責拘捕妄自發預言的狂人，給他們戴上鐵鏈枷鎖。現在，亞拿突人耶利米在你們當中自稱為先知，你為什麼不斥責他呢？

眾人聽了這番話，怒火中燒，咬牙切齒。

當耶利米先知來到便雅憫門時，哈拿尼亞的孫子、示利米雅的兒子守門官伊利雅逮捕了他，說：「你想去投奔迦勒底人！」耶利米說：「不，我不是去投奔迦勒底人。」但伊利雅不信，把他押到眾官長那裡。官長們大怒，命人鞭打耶利米，把他囚禁在書記約拿單的房子裡，因為他們已把這房子改作監牢。

指控祂說：「這人蠱惑民心，禁止百姓向凱撒納稅，又說自己是基督，是君王。」

音麥的兒子巴施戶珥祭司在耶和華的殿中做總管。他聽見耶利米預言這些事，便下令毆打耶利米先知，把他囚禁在耶和華殿的便雅憫上門處。第二天，他釋放了耶利米，耶利米對他說：「耶和華不再叫你巴施戶珥，要叫你瑪歌珥·米撒畢。

耶穌進了聖殿，正在教導人的時候，祭司長和民間的長老來質問祂：「你憑什麼權柄做這些事？誰授權給你了？」

我們發現這個人惹事生非，到處煽動猶太人鬧事。他是拿撒勒教派的一個頭目，

他們說：「來！我們設計對付耶利米吧，反正我們有祭司教導律法，有智者出謀劃策，有先知傳講預言。來吧！我們抨擊他，不要理會他的話。」

「我們不是嚴禁你們奉耶穌的名去教導百姓嗎？你們竟然在耶路撒冷各處傳道，還想把殺那人的血債歸到我們身上！」

見到以利亞後，就說：「給以色列帶來災禍的就是你嗎？」

「現在你們仗著人多勢眾，又有耶羅波安製造的金牛犢作為你們的神明，便企圖反抗大衛子孫所治理的耶和華的國度。你們趕走了做耶和華祭司的亞倫之後裔和利未人，效法外族人的惡俗為自己設立祭司。任何人牽來一頭公牛犢和七隻公綿羊，就可以自封為假神的祭司。

他的哥哥們回答說：「難道你真想做我們的王統治我們嗎？」他們因約瑟的夢和他說的話而更恨他。
