中午，他們出了城；便‧哈達和幫助他的三十二個王正在帳幕裏暢飲。跟從省長的年輕人先出城。便‧哈達派人去，他們回報說：「有人從撒瑪利亞出來了。」他說：「他們若為求和出來，要活捉他們，若為打仗出來，也要活捉他們。」跟從省長的年輕人，和跟隨他們的軍兵，都出了城，各人遇見敵人就擊殺。亞蘭人逃跑，以色列人追趕他們；亞蘭王便‧哈達騎着馬和騎兵一同逃跑。

不要往伯特利尋求，不要進入吉甲，也不要過到別是巴；因為吉甲必被擄走，伯特利必歸無有。」

我心慌亂，驚恐威嚇我。我所渴望的黃昏，反成為我的恐懼。

你生兒育女，卻不屬於你，因為他們必被擄去。

所以耶和華如此說：『你的妻子要在城中作妓女，你的兒女要倒在刀下；你的地必有人用繩子量了瓜分，你自己必死在不潔淨之地；以色列百姓必被擄，離開本地。』」

王帶着哈曼來赴以斯帖王后的宴席。第二天在宴席喝酒的時候，王又對以斯帖說：「以斯帖王后啊，你要甚麼，必賜給你；無論你求甚麼，就是國的一半也必給你。」

你們像雜亂的荊棘，像喝醉了的人，又如枯乾的碎稭，全然燒滅。

他們要倒在刀下，又被擄到各國去。耶路撒冷要被外邦人踐踏，直到外邦人的日子滿了。」

我若在王眼前蒙恩，王若願意賜我所要的，准我所求的，就請王和哈曼再赴我為你們預備的宴席。明日我必照王的話去做。」

所以我要把你們擄到大馬士革以外。」這是耶和華說的，他的名為萬軍之神。

哈曼又說：「以斯帖王后預備宴席，除了我之外不許別人隨王赴席。明日王后又請我隨王赴席。只是每當我看見猶太人末底改坐在朝門，這一切對我就都毫無意義了。」他的妻子細利斯和他所有的朋友對他說：「叫人做一個五十肘高的木架，早晨求王把末底改掛在其上，然後你可以歡歡喜喜隨王赴席。」哈曼認為這話很好，就叫人做了木架。

王從御花園回到酒席廳，見哈曼伏在以斯帖所靠的榻上；王說：「他竟敢在宮內、在我面前凌辱王后嗎？」這話一出王口，哈曼的臉就被蒙住了。有一個伺候王名叫哈波拿的太監說：「看哪，哈曼還為那報告給王、救王有功的末底改做了一個五十肘高的木架，現今立在哈曼的家裏。」王說：「把哈曼掛在木架上。」於是哈曼被掛在他為末底改所預備的木架上；王的憤怒才平息了。
