You lie on beds adorned with ivory and lounge on your couches. You dine on choice lambs and fattened calves.

You lie down on beds that are decorated with ivory. You rest on your couches. You eat the best lambs and the fattest calves.

“ Woe to those who lie on beds of ivory and stretch themselves out on their couches, and eat lambs from the flock and calves from the midst of the stall,

How terrible for you who sprawl on ivory beds and lounge on your couches, eating the meat of tender lambs from the flock and of choice calves fattened in the stall.

They lie on beds inlaid with ivory, sprawled out on their couches, and dine on lambs from the flock and calves from the stall.

Those who lie on beds of ivory, And lounge around on their couches, And eat lambs from the flock, And calves from the midst of the fattened cattle,

You have lived in luxury on the earth, and taken your pleasure. You have nourished your hearts as in a day of slaughter.

“ Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel. Prophesy, and tell them, even the shepherds,‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Shouldn’t the shepherds feed the sheep?You eat the fat. You clothe yourself with the wool. You kill the fatlings, but you don’t feed the sheep.

Yahweh says:“ As the shepherd rescues out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear, so shall the children of Israel be rescued who sit in Samaria on the corner of a couch, and on the silken cushions of a bed.”

Let’s walk properly, as in the day; not in reveling and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and lustful acts, and not in strife and jealousy.But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, for its lusts.

Woe to those who rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink, who stay late into the night, until wine inflames them!The harp, lyre, tambourine, and flute, with wine, are at their feasts; but they don’t respect the work of Yahweh, neither have they considered the operation of his hands.

I will tell my soul,“ Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry.”’“ But God said to him,‘ You foolish one, tonight your soul is required of you. The things which you have prepared— whose will they be?’

Their eyes bulge with fat. Their minds pass the limits of conceit.
