Go to Kalneh and look at it; go from there to great Hamath, and then go down to Gath in Philistia. Are they better off than your two kingdoms? Is their land larger than yours?

And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

Is not Calno as Carchemish? is not Hamath as Arpad? is not Samaria as Damascus?As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria;shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?

Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, Jehovah will deliver us. Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim? and have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?

And as he talked with them, behold, there came up the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, out of the ranks of the Philistines, and spake according to the same words: and David heard them.

And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Avva, and from Hamath and Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel; and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.
