以色列國雄長列邦、其中有名之人、為民所歸、然在郇邑、耽於逸樂、在撒馬利亞山、宴然居處、其禍必不遠矣、

爾曹在郇安逸者、在撒瑪利亞山自謂有倚恃者、在列國中名最著者、以色列人所歸者、必有禍、

Woe to you who are complacent in Zion, and to you who feel secure on Mount Samaria, you notable men of the foremost nation, to whom the people of Israel come!

How terrible it will be for you men who are so contented on Mount Zion! How terrible for you who feel secure on the hill of Samaria! You are famous men from the greatest nation. The people of Israel come to you for help and advice.

“ Woe to those who are at ease in Zion, and to those who feel secure on the mountain of Samaria, the notable men of the first of the nations, to whom the house of Israel comes!

What sorrow awaits you who lounge in luxury in Jerusalem, and you who feel secure in Samaria! You are famous and popular in Israel, and people go to you for help.

Woe to those who are at ease in Zion and to those who feel secure on the hill of Samaria— the notable people in this first of the nations, those the house of Israel comes to.

Woe to those who are carefree in Zion, And to those who feel secure on the mountain of Samaria, The dignitaries of the foremost of nations, To whom the house of Israel comes.

Woe to you who are at ease in Zion, And trust in Mount Samaria, Notable persons in the chief nation, To whom the house of Israel comes!

Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and to them that are secure in the mountain of Samaria, the notable men of the chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel come!

Woe to those who are at ease in Zion and to those who feel secure on the hill of Samaria— the notable people in this first of the nations, those the house of Israel comes to.

Woe to them[ that are] at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria,[ which are] named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came!

Woe to those who live in ease in Zion, to those who feel secure on Mount Samaria. They think of themselves as the elite class of the best nation. The family of Israel looks to them for leadership.

You have lived in luxury on the earth, and taken your pleasure. You have nourished your hearts as in a day of slaughter.

Rise up, you women who are at ease! Hear my voice! You careless daughters, give ear to my speech!For days beyond a year you will be troubled, you careless women; for the vintage will fail. The harvest won’t come.Tremble, you women who are at ease! Be troubled, you careless ones! Strip yourselves, make yourselves naked, and put sackcloth on your waist.

He reasoned within himself, saying,‘ What will I do, because I don’t have room to store my crops?’He said,‘ This is what I will do. I will pull down my barns, build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.I will tell my soul,“ Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Listen to this word, you cows of Bashan, who are on the mountain of Samaria, who oppress the poor, who crush the needy, who tell their husbands,“ Bring us drinks!”

Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice, and keep my covenant, then you shall be my own possession from among all peoples; for all the earth is mine;and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”

Don’t trust in lying words, saying,‘ Yahweh’s temple, Yahweh’s temple, Yahweh’s temple, are these.’

Those who swear by the sin of Samaria, and say,‘ As your god, Dan, lives;’ and,‘ As the way of Beersheba lives;’ they will fall, and never rise up again.”

“ But woe to you who are rich! For you have received your consolation.Woe to you, you who are full now, for you will be hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep.
