this is the word that the Lord has spoken against him:“ She has shown contempt for you and derided you, The virgin daughter of Zion; The daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head behind you!

Pull yourself up! Pull yourself up! Arise, Jerusalem! You who have drunk from the Lord’s hand the cup of His anger; The chalice of staggering you have drunk to the dregs.There is no one to guide her among all the sons to whom she has given birth, Nor is there anyone to take her by the hand among all the sons she has raised.

Prepare a place of slaughter for his sons Because of the wrongdoing of their fathers. They must not arise and take possession of the earth, And fill the surface of the world with cities.”

Return, Israel, to the Lord your God, For you have stumbled because of your wrongdoing.

The earth trembles like a heavy drinker And sways like a hut, For its wrongdoing is heavy upon it, And it will fall, never to rise again.

Who say to a tree,‘ You are my father,’ And to a stone,‘ You gave me birth.’ For they have turned their backs to Me, And not their faces; But in the time of their trouble they will say,‘ Arise and save us!’

I will build you again and you will be rebuilt, Virgin of Israel! You will take up your tambourines again, And go out to the dances of the revelers.

How shall I admonish you? What shall I compare to you, Daughter of Jerusalem? What shall I liken to you as I comfort you, Virgin daughter of Zion? For your collapse is as vast as the sea; Who can heal you?

And they abandoned all the commandments of the Lord their God and made for themselves cast metal images: two calves. And they made an Asherah, and worshiped all the heavenly lights, and served Baal.

For these things I weep; My eyes run down with water; Because far from me is a comforter, One to restore my soul. My children are desolate Because the enemy has prevailed.”Zion stretches out with her hands; There is no one to comfort her; The Lord has commanded regarding Jacob That those around him become his adversaries; Jerusalem has become a filthy thing among them.“ The Lord is righteous, For I have rebelled against His command; Hear now, all peoples, And see my pain; My virgins and my young men Have gone into captivity.I called to my lovers, but they deserted me; My priests and my elders perished in the city While they sought food to restore their strength themselves.

The arrogant one will stumble and fall With no one to raise him up; And I will set fire to his cities, And it will devour all his surroundings.”

Who brings out the chariot and the horse, The army and the mighty man( They will lie down together and not rise again; They have been extinguished, and have gone out like a wick):

“ On that day I will raise up the fallen shelter of David, And wall up its gaps; I will also raise up its ruins And rebuild it as in the days of old;

“ For this is what the Lord says:‘ Your broken limb is irreparable, And your wound is incurable.There is no one to plead your cause; No healing for your sore, No recovery for you.All your lovers have forgotten you, They do not seek you; For I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, With the punishment of a cruel one, Because your wrongdoing is great, And your sins are numerous.

For Jerusalem has stumbled and Judah has fallen, Because their speech and their actions are against the Lord, To rebel against His glorious presence.

and say,‘ Just so shall Babylon sink down and not rise again, because of the disaster that I am going to bring upon her; and they will become exhausted.’ ” To this point are the words of Jeremiah.

Disaster upon disaster is proclaimed, For the whole land is devastated; Suddenly my tents are devastated, And my curtains in an instant.

He will revive us after two days; He will raise us up on the third day, That we may live before Him.
