Therefore this is what the Lord God of armies, the Lord says:“ There is mourning in all the public squares, And in all the streets they say,‘ Oh no! Oh no!’ They also call the farmer to mourning And professional mourners to mourning rites.

萬有之主耶和華上帝曰、在逵衢、人必椎心、在陋巷、人必哀呼、使農夫哭泣、使善作哀歌者椎心、

主萬有之天主如是云、在各逵衢、人必哀哭、在各街道、必有人呼哀哉哀哉、亦必招農夫來哭泣、亦必招農夫來哭泣或作農夫亦必招人來哭泣使善作哀歌者舉哀、

Therefore this is what the Lord, the Lord God Almighty, says:“ There will be wailing in all the streets and cries of anguish in every public square. The farmers will be summoned to weep and the mourners to wail.

The Lord God rules over all. The Lord says,“ People will weep in all the streets. They will be very sad in every market place. Even farmers will be told to cry loudly. People will mourn for the dead.

Therefore thus says the Lord, the God of hosts, the Lord:“ In all the squares there shall be wailing, and in all the streets they shall say,‘ Alas! Alas!’ They shall call the farmers to mourning and to wailing those who are skilled in lamentation,

Therefore, this is what the Lord, the Lord God of Heaven’s Armies, says:“ There will be crying in all the public squares and mourning in every street. Call for the farmers to weep with you, and summon professional mourners to wail.

Therefore the LORD, the God of Armies, the Lord, says: There will be wailing in all the public squares; they will cry out in anguish in all the streets. The farmer will be called on to mourn, and professional mourners to wail.

Therefore the Lord God of hosts, the Lord, says this:“ There shall be wailing in all streets, And they shall say in all the highways,‘ Alas! Alas!’ They shall call the farmer to mourning, And skillful lamenters to wailing.

Therefore thus saith Jehovah, the God of hosts, the Lord: Wailing shall be in all the broad ways; and they shall say in all the streets, Alas! Alas! and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful in lamentation to wailing.

Therefore Yahweh, the God of Hosts, the Lord, says: There will be wailing in all the public squares; they will cry out in anguish in all the streets. The farmer will be called on to mourn, and professional mourners to wail.

Therefore the LORD, the God of hosts, the Lord, saith thus; Wailing[ shall be] in all streets; and they shall say in all the highways, Alas! alas! and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful of lamentation to wailing.

Because of Israel’s sins this is what the LORD, the God who commands armies, the sovereign One, says:“ In all the squares there will be wailing, in all the streets they will mourn the dead. They will tell the field workers to lament and the professional mourners to wail.

Therefore Yahweh, the God of Armies, the Lord, says:“ Wailing will be in all the wide ways; and they will say in all the streets,‘ Alas! Alas!’ and they will call the farmer to mourning, and those who are skillful in lamentation to wailing.

Be ashamed, you farm workers, Wail, you vinedressers, For the wheat and the barley; Because the harvest of the field is destroyed.

This is what the Lord of armies says:“ Consider and call for the mourning women, that they may come; And send for the skillful women, that they may come!Have them hurry and take up a wailing for us, So that our eyes may shed tears, And our eyelids flow with water.For a voice of wailing is heard from Zion:‘ How devastated we are! We are put to great shame, For we have abandoned the land Because they have torn down our homes.’ ”Now hear the word of the Lord, you women, And let your ears receive the word of His mouth; Teach your daughters wailing, And have every woman teach her neighbor a song of mourning.

“ I will take up a weeping and wailing for the mountains, And for the pastures of the wilderness a song of mourning, Because they are laid waste so that no one passes through, And the sound of the livestock is not heard; Both the birds of the sky and the animals have fled; they are gone.

The merchants of these things, who became rich from her, will stand at a distance because of the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning,saying,‘ Woe, woe, the great city, she who was clothed in fine linen and purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold, precious stones, and pearls;

Hear and testify against the house of Jacob,” Declares the Lord God, the God of armies.

Therefore on that day the Lord God of armies called you to weeping, to wailing, To shaving the head, and to wearing sackcloth.

For I heard a voice cry as of a woman in labor, The anguish as of one giving birth to her first child. The voice of the daughter of Zion gasping for breath, Stretching out her hands, saying,“ Ah, woe to me, for I faint before murderers.”

standing at a distance because of the fear of her torment, saying,‘ Woe, woe, the great city, Babylon, the strong city! For in one hour your judgment has come.’

For the cry of distress has gone around the territory of Moab, Its wailing goes as far as Eglaim and its howling to Beer elim.

The people have gone up to the temple and to Dibon, to the high places to weep. Moab wails over Nebo and Medeba; Everyone’s head is bald and every beard is cut off.In their streets they have put on sackcloth; On their housetops and in their public squares Everyone is wailing, overcome with weeping.Heshbon and Elealeh also cry out, Their voice is heard all the way to Jahaz; Therefore the armed men of Moab cry aloud; His soul trembles within him.My heart cries out for Moab; His fugitives are as far as Zoar and Eglath shelishiyah, For they go up the ascent of Luhith weeping; Indeed, on the road to Horonaim they raise a cry of distress over their collapse.

Wail like a virgin clothed with sackcloth For the groom of her youth.

Then I will turn your festivals into mourning, And all your songs into songs of mourning; And I will put sackcloth around everyone’s waist, And baldness on every head. And I will make it like a time of mourning for an only son, And the end of it will be like a bitter day.

On that day they will take up against you a song of mocking And utter a song of mourning and say,‘ We are completely destroyed! He exchanges the share of my people; How He removes it from me! To the apostate He apportions our fields.’

Because of this I must mourn and wail, I must go barefoot and naked; I must do mourning like the jackals, And a mourning like the ostriches.

And they threw dust on their heads and were crying out, weeping and mourning, saying,‘ Woe, woe, the great city, in which all who had ships at sea became rich from her prosperity, for in one hour she has been laid waste!’

Therefore I will make you go into exile beyond Damascus,” says the Lord, whose name is the God of armies.

Consecrate a fast, Proclaim a solemn assembly; Gather the elders And all the inhabitants of the land To the house of the Lord your God, And cry out to the Lord.
