Therefore thus says the Lord, the God of hosts, the Lord:“ In all the squares there shall be wailing, and in all the streets they shall say,‘ Alas! Alas!’ They shall call the farmers to mourning and to wailing those who are skilled in lamentation,

主耶和華、萬軍之上帝曰、在諸廣場、人皆號咷、在諸街衢、人曰哀哉、哀哉、召農夫哀悼、召善哭者號咷、

萬有之主耶和華上帝曰、在逵衢、人必椎心、在陋巷、人必哀呼、使農夫哭泣、使善作哀歌者椎心、

主萬有之天主如是云、在各逵衢、人必哀哭、在各街道、必有人呼哀哉哀哉、亦必招農夫來哭泣、亦必招農夫來哭泣或作農夫亦必招人來哭泣使善作哀歌者舉哀、

Therefore this is what the Lord, the Lord God Almighty, says:“ There will be wailing in all the streets and cries of anguish in every public square. The farmers will be summoned to weep and the mourners to wail.

The Lord God rules over all. The Lord says,“ People will weep in all the streets. They will be very sad in every market place. Even farmers will be told to cry loudly. People will mourn for the dead.

Therefore, this is what the Lord, the Lord God of Heaven’s Armies, says:“ There will be crying in all the public squares and mourning in every street. Call for the farmers to weep with you, and summon professional mourners to wail.

Therefore the LORD, the God of Armies, the Lord, says: There will be wailing in all the public squares; they will cry out in anguish in all the streets. The farmer will be called on to mourn, and professional mourners to wail.

Therefore this is what the Lord God of armies, the Lord says:“ There is mourning in all the public squares, And in all the streets they say,‘ Oh no! Oh no!’ They also call the farmer to mourning And professional mourners to mourning rites.

Therefore the Lord God of hosts, the Lord, says this:“ There shall be wailing in all streets, And they shall say in all the highways,‘ Alas! Alas!’ They shall call the farmer to mourning, And skillful lamenters to wailing.

Therefore thus saith Jehovah, the God of hosts, the Lord: Wailing shall be in all the broad ways; and they shall say in all the streets, Alas! Alas! and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful in lamentation to wailing.

Therefore Yahweh, the God of Hosts, the Lord, says: There will be wailing in all the public squares; they will cry out in anguish in all the streets. The farmer will be called on to mourn, and professional mourners to wail.

Therefore the LORD, the God of hosts, the Lord, saith thus; Wailing[ shall be] in all streets; and they shall say in all the highways, Alas! alas! and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful of lamentation to wailing.

Because of Israel’s sins this is what the LORD, the God who commands armies, the sovereign One, says:“ In all the squares there will be wailing, in all the streets they will mourn the dead. They will tell the field workers to lament and the professional mourners to wail.

Therefore Yahweh, the God of Armies, the Lord, says:“ Wailing will be in all the wide ways; and they will say in all the streets,‘ Alas! Alas!’ and they will call the farmer to mourning, and those who are skillful in lamentation to wailing.

Be ashamed, O tillers of the soil; wail, O vinedressers, for the wheat and the barley, because the harvest of the field has perished.

Thus says the Lord of hosts:“ Consider, and call for the mourning women to come; send for the skillful women to come;let them make haste and raise a wailing over us, that our eyes may run down with tears and our eyelids flow with water.For a sound of wailing is heard from Zion:‘ How we are ruined! We are utterly shamed, because we have left the land, because they have cast down our dwellings.’”Hear, O women, the word of the Lord, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth; teach to your daughters a lament, and each to her neighbor a dirge.

“ I will take up weeping and wailing for the mountains, and a lamentation for the pastures of the wilderness, because they are laid waste so that no one passes through, and the lowing of cattle is not heard; both the birds of the air and the beasts have fled and are gone.

The merchants of these wares, who gained wealth from her, will stand far off, in fear of her torment, weeping and mourning aloud,“ Alas, alas, for the great city that was clothed in fine linen, in purple and scarlet, adorned with gold, with jewels, and with pearls!

“ Hear, and testify against the house of Jacob,” declares the Lord God, the God of hosts,

In that day the Lord God of hosts called for weeping and mourning, for baldness and wearing sackcloth;

For I heard a cry as of a woman in labor, anguish as of one giving birth to her first child, the cry of the daughter of Zion gasping for breath, stretching out her hands,“ Woe is me! I am fainting before murderers.”

They will stand far off, in fear of her torment, and say,“ Alas! Alas! You great city, you mighty city, Babylon! For in a single hour your judgment has come.”

For a cry has gone around the land of Moab; her wailing reaches to Eglaim; her wailing reaches to Beer-elim.

He has gone up to the temple, and to Dibon, to the high places to weep; over Nebo and over Medeba Moab wails. On every head is baldness; every beard is shorn;in the streets they wear sackcloth; on the housetops and in the squares everyone wails and melts in tears.Heshbon and Elealeh cry out; their voice is heard as far as Jahaz; therefore the armed men of Moab cry aloud; his soul trembles.My heart cries out for Moab; her fugitives flee to Zoar, to Eglath-shelishiyah. For at the ascent of Luhith they go up weeping; on the road to Horonaim they raise a cry of destruction;

Lament like a virgin wearing sackcloth for the bridegroom of her youth.

I will turn your feasts into mourning and all your songs into lamentation; I will bring sackcloth on every waist and baldness on every head; I will make it like the mourning for an only son and the end of it like a bitter day.

In that day they shall take up a taunt song against you and moan bitterly, and say,“ We are utterly ruined; he changes the portion of my people; how he removes it from me! To an apostate he allots our fields.”

For this I will lament and wail; I will go stripped and naked; I will make lamentation like the jackals, and mourning like the ostriches.

And they threw dust on their heads as they wept and mourned, crying out,“ Alas, alas, for the great city where all who had ships at sea grew rich by her wealth! For in a single hour she has been laid waste.

and I will send you into exile beyond Damascus,” says the Lord, whose name is the God of hosts.

Consecrate a fast; call a solemn assembly. Gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord.
